Phil Rudd gets to fly again.

Former AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd's flight stoush ends | Stuff.co.nz

I'm no lawyer so I'm not sure if this is a one-off, or if there is something seriously amiss with CAA regulations.

"Have you ever experienced any of the following ... Use of legal or illegal recreational drugs or substances"

Is this seriously expected to be answered as "Yes - I am a cannabis user." ???

Forgetting the drugs, you would have thought appearing in court on conspiracy to murder would have been a fail on the fit & proper test

Damned right, aldee.

As you know, the only people who are ever charged for crimes are the people who committed them.

So how would you define someone who s worthy of passing a fit and proper test anyway? Load of bollocks

FFS the man wrote "Back in Black". BACK IN BLACK. He's a legend. A god amongst mortals. He doesn't need to pass a fit and proper person test.

Joking aside, what's the substantial difference between him and Bruce Dickinson, who gets slavering hero worship whenever his name is mentioned on pprune? You seriously think Bruce wasn't telling a few little white lies when he applied for his initial class 1?

Please define 'little white lie'.

Answering No to the 'have you used drugs?' when you have appeared in court for same seems to me to be too big to be classed as little.

As for Bruce Dickinson, of whom I am also an admirer, we have no proof that he lied about anything, little white variety or otherwise.
Also no proof that he even used drugs
And if he did, he may have been honest and allowed a class 1.
Use and abuse of drugs, including the most dangerous drug, alcohol, does not automatically lead to inability to obtain a class 1. I would have thought lying about it would though.

From a purely pedantic lawyer's point of view, he was charged for "possession" of drugs after they were found at his house, that's not proof he personally ingested them. Could have been someone else's left over from a party

On a unrelated issue, how are the Yanks handling this question now that marijuana is legal in half the states? How do the Dutch do it? I would imagine there aren't too many teenagers left in Colorado and California who can fill in that form honestly. Won't help the pilot shortage

In the US, marijuana has only been made legal at the state level (in some states). It remains illegal at the Federal level.

Those states have repealed the state laws that made marijuana illegal and directed their police forces not to enforce the Federal laws. But there is nothing stopping the FBI arresting people on marijuana-related charges in those states.

As the FAA is the Federal Aviation Administration I can only imagine that they still consider marijuana to be an illegal drug no matter where a pilot consumes it.

As for increased teenage use, I believe the facts show that legalising a substance for 18+ use reduces the amount of underage use. Unregistered (illegal) suppliers are pushed out of business by the legal ones, and the legal ones don't want to sell it to underage customers for fear of losing their license.

Is it illegal to say, Go away off my land or I will kill you?

Serious question.

Seems he paying lots of money kind of made it much worse though. Looks like an idiot now.

If Bon Scott had've lived I ponder he and Rudd would've been someone's jailbitches by now.
