How Many ADS-B Stations Do We Have?

On the Airservices website (see HERE) it says in relation to the mainland of Australia (which is about the same size as mainland USA without Alaska) that we have 29 duplicated ADS-B ground stations and then another 16 sites in the Sydney basin. Can anyone explain to me what the 16 sites in the Sydney basin are for? Why are there so many?

You might try contacting Airservices and ask them directly.
