The Boeing 787. Is it a Dream or a Dudd?
Nothing wrong with the 787. I had the "privilege" to fly in one as a passenger with PornStar from Sydney- Honolulu. I have picked the emergency exit seat since I am a tad over 6 feet so I can stretch my legs. Mind you the flight was during the night so it was extremely smooth and I can't sleep unless I am in the cockpit.

Windows were great !
Apparentely take off and climb was de rated ref a lot ref previous posts here.
Ride however when it hit turbulance was like a cork bouncing in choppy water. The 777 seemed to push through turbulance - a lot better.
To me the 777 feels a lot more solid and sturdy BUT USES A LOT MORE FUEL.

Electrics – Though a smaller plane, the 787 has 4 times the electric generating power of the 777 – 1.4 gigawatts.

An elctro-hyd pump is under rows 40-42 in the J* config. Just in front of Door 3L.
We know this because we just did a long sector. However, the pump is only associated [normal ops] with gear/flap selection and appears to be continuous with gear down. It is BLOODY loud!!
Otherwise, as pax, it's breeze.

The hydraulic pump noise you can hear is the Centre Demand Pump, it operates when,
System PX is low
on the ground for the first 3 min after the second engine is started, or
from takeoff thrust set until 2000' is exceeded,
flaps or slats in motion, or
during descent from when the gear lever is down and RA is less than 2000' until gs is less than 60kts.
There are 2 electric motor driven pumps to provide centre hydraulic pressure, they alternate between being primary pump and demand pump. Depending on the sector you may not hear the same hydraulic noises.
