Virgin

Nice fly-by guys.

So high up I barely saw it. Were you in direct law? Or we're you being safe with the autopilot on?

Oh, and it's missing 2 engines.

Not completely pointless, there's plenty of other aircraft i too would rather see fly over my head than an average wide twin...

Better than the shocker that was the QF737 at the GP this year.

Due to escalating fuel and legacy staff costs, next year they'll just drive the QF staff bus around the track.

I think you will find CASA have basically killed off any sort of real flybys.

They would have you hung drawn and quartered if you tried one these:

The CX fly over was probably one of the best and lowest fly overs by a commercial jet. A low height was intended, but not that low. And it was quite surprising as the Captain was a long termer and a very competent pilot at that.
The result for him was a DCM, which was a shame because 'Wilko' was a good man.

6+ mins long, but well worth the watch. The final low level fly past is spectacular!

Gentlemen please!!

You may be poking fun at said flyover but there has been some serious and well founded concern by Eddie McGuire, the AFP and some smart phone carrying hipsters with twitter accounts who just so happened to be at the grand final.

Virgin play flyover alarms some fans at AFL Grand Final

One brave constable was even seen reaching for his weapon when startled by such an unusual event like a major sponsors commercial aircraft doing a flyby of the arena.

Any truth to the rumour that the crew descended below LSALT with only one operational thronomister

The "Qantas Angels" probably already had it pre-planned to jump on social media to give Virgin a bad rap and link it to terrorism. Poor form.

People living near flight paths all over the world must be living in fear every couple of minutes!!

Ps, is Eddie a QF lounge member by any chance??

The only thing more stirring than a heavy doing a low level pass is a military jet doing one fast--i personally would have been thrilled to bits, but the average twittertwat should have maybe had a heads-up it was going to happen.Twitter has to be the best thing ever as a force multiplier for clueless stupidity and pointless chatter. A simple PA announcement should have covered it, but hey, they probably wouldn't have noticed it, too glued to their phones.

We liked the 'sounds of freedom' over Brisvegas yesterday. Multiple "sorties" by Super Hornets. Nice see and better to hear....

The Virgin fly-past at the MCG has been lambasted in the press considering the current security alert and the penchant for bad guys to use big aeroplanes as WMDs..prompting Julie Bishops security guard to 'reach for his gun' (he was going to shoot it down? )

Got to admit, without prior knowledge it would have made 'interesting' viewing from say the Eureka Skydeck

It was quite low over Geelong doing circuits at 1000ft-1500ft and went down to 400ft above Port Phillip Bay before it went across the G.

450ft above the MCG.

Next year, big lens top of the Eureka should get a ripper shot.

The 'good man' who did the CX flypast had, along with a certain ex-DAS, been one of the nasties on the CX Star Chamber, that selected pilots for firing in order to intimidate the rest. A most cowardly episode.

Ironically, he got 49ered himself after the low pass with quite a few company pax on board, and full of transPacific fuel.
