also you would have no controlled airspace or controlled aerodrome entry (without getting an endorsement). You probably will get flight radio endorsement as you would have had a flight radio op licence from your GFPT.

You will need to get the navigation endorsement to go beyond the 25nm range - having done previous nav training (but not done PPL flight test) will not automatically give you that (I think you were saying because you had done training previously that would give you the RPL nav endorsement?).

A PPL can operate into controlled airspace/aerodromes and is not distance limited - you can fly between aerodromes rather than restricted to the 25nm radius, you can add flight activities like aeros, can get ratings like night, instrument etc, can get class rating to fly multi engine and the licence is recognised overseas (unlike RPL where none of that is possible).

Nope, an RPL can get controlled aerodrome/airspace endorsements, any flight activity endorsement including aerobatics (limitations relevant to medical certificate) and any design feature endorsement.

I think basically (although as DJP has proven I wouldn't trust me!), RPL limited to single engine, VFR by day, MTOW limited, no turbines, pax limit depends on your medical, you need to get endorsements for cta and ctr to operate in them, you need to get nav endorsement to fly beyond 25nm, you need to get radio endorsement to use radio and it is not recognised outside Australia.

Quite simply, RPL is a only a route for pilot wannabes without the $$$ to complete a PPL. What's a PPL these days? $20K? Don't have/don't have the ability to $20K in short order? Don't start. Don't have $30K+ to spend therafter on your hobby per year? Don't start.

Countless hours of rehashing of regulations for no real benefit.
