Old Aviation Safety Digest Digital

I just saw Centaurus' thread on the current weasel word epidemic.
It reminded me that I seem to recall that I saw somewhere that there was a project to scan all the old Mac Job Aviation Safety Digests to digital.
Did this get completed? if so is it available?

I seem to recall that someone had only made the suggestion of doing just that, but that was as far as it went as far as I know.

Others may know more.

On the backburner but still alive - pending workload and available time.

John T
I, and probably many others, would like to help. I have a scanner and time, if it is of help.
I do not have access to old digests.

....and I'm still looking for a copy of the report that appeared in the Crash Comic on CAC Mustang VH-DBB that crashed at Bendigo on the 15/2/70 if anyone has it.

Hi
Thanks to Centaurus, Bloggs and his mate Harry and a few others we only need 16 more to finish off this lot:

Aviation Safety Digests

They are all oldies, so if you have access to pre 1965 ASDs and are willing to help please PM me. I would need them for around a week and will pay postage both ways. You will get them back.

Triadic I PMed you a while ago.

Thanks
Frontal

Try the official report here: https://www.atsb.gov.au/publications...aair197002554/
Meanwhile will try and locate the ASD version among my collection.

It is instructive to read the ATSB report if only for its succinct description of what happened and the probable cause. That was 1970. Nowadays a typical report covers much more detail - whether pertinent to the event or not. In other words "padding".. Maybe because of the propensity to litigation in the present world?

Oh come on, Centaurus, surely you know the deal: the more words, the more authoritative the report must be...

Great initiative, I've only ever seen the odd one of the really old stuff, but this makes it very accessible. I still mourn my towering piles of 60's and 70's Flying magazines that didn't survive a move whilst I was off at boarding school, but at least I can browse the electronic versions for free now without having to house the things. Same with old Popular Mechanics.

I stored all my crash comics from circa 1976 until they ceased printing them. They went to a good home when a well known PPruner of colored origin came and collected the lot from me back in about 2008. IIRC I kept only one, which had the poem about the whether to put a fence at the top of a cliff or an ambulance down in the valley.

I know somewhere here on PPRuNe, there was a link to download past issues of the Aviation Safety Digest. There is also a page on the ATSB website that allows the download of individual issues from 1953 to 1991. Probably been there for a while, but haven't noticed it before.

The PDF's on the ATSB website are individually searchable. The copies located elsewhere are not.
