I remember Dr Wilson syringing my ears out when I was in primary school. We had the DCA house in Galatea Street, from memory the surgery was just up the road.

RFDS has taken up the role of supplying the local GP for Charleville.

Charleville is definitely one of the most enjoyable places I've ever lived. Quite a strong community feel there and many friends made during my time out there.

Talking of Doctors; many years ago I had a consult with a DAME that went like this... (was MUCH younger then)

DAME: (in one breath) Have you ever had or experienced,Angina pectoris,Bipolar disease,Cardiac valve replacement,Coronary heart disease that has been treated or, if untreated, that has been symptomatic or clinically significant,Diabetes mellitus requiring hypoglycemic medications,Disturbance of consciousness without satisfactory explanation of cause,Epilepsy,Heart replacement,Myocardial infarction,Permanent cardiac pacemaker,Personality disorder that is severe enough to have repeatedly manifested itself by overt acts,Psychosis,Substance abuse,Substance dependence,Transient loss of control of nervous system function(s) without satisfactory explanation of cause.

Me: No

$60 later, medical concluded satisfactorily.

Jaba,
Not much happening out here.
Very little piston traffic going through here, mostly king-airs.
Airtour work was virtually non existent this year. Other tour operators in this area seem to be the same.

Flying work has finished for the moment.
Ready to put another engine in the 185 again......

Things change in Charleville

That would be the famous Dr Chester Wilson who uttered all those questions in a single breath! We all went to get our aviation Medicals this week, as it looks like a 600km trip from now on. Aviation Medicals were never approached with much enthusiasm with Chester, as he possesses freakishly long fingers that are in no way straight, with massively protruding knuckles.....the prostate check is not fun!
Chester is a dead set legend and one of the best examples of an Australian that you will ever encounter. The order of Australia That he was awarded only gives a small insight into the enormous contribution he (and his astonishing wife) has made to the rural medical profession and the community in general. Easily the most influential person I have worked with for the past 23 years, and as today is his last day at work...I will miss him greatly.

I think you are referring to Dr Bob Balmain. He was the flying doctor at YBCV for 20 years I think.

Hey 185,

Are you going to toss a gig for a send off or something.

A few of us need a "good excuse" to com out there. And it seems ages since I have seen you, Beachie and all them Billie Lids.

How about it?

And you never know……If the FTDK gets his FTDK flying again soon, he might be a starter too. Mind you there is a FORKTAM about it.
