'chairy' yes 3 puddles of oil, only those that are famil with old Doves will understand that comment And how do you know it's moving? If it is then 'AE" must have set a world record for that very quick painting

Re- CTS

Hi Planemike,
Part of CTS is still flying! it was purchased by Ted Rudge in 92' and its nose from the rear cockpit bulkhead forward replaced the badly damaged nose of VH-DHI see link below for photo's of it at mildura and in that album there is also a photo of DHI part way through the rebuild

Hi

EOB sat at different parts of the Mackay GA tarmac for many years. It was sold and dismantled/removed sometime last year. Can't remember who bought it. There was a spare set of wings for it at Chrisair but not sure what happened to them either.

Cheers

Dan.......

Congratulations on an excellent site.

Many thanks for replying to my enquiry. Leads to the question, where is the rest of the airframe?? This would mean that the nose is the last part of an East African Airways aircraft that is still flying. Until recently a couple of ex EAAC VC10s were flying with the RAF. An ex EAAC Rapide is under restoration to flying condition in South Africa.

Have read through the information on VH-MAL (ex VP-KEJ) on the QAM site. It is stated that both ex the EAAC Doves (sold to Mandated Airlines) were flown in PNG with their Kenyan registrations. Now the question......does anyone out there have a photograph of VP-KDG (later VH-MAB/-CTS)?

VH-OBI

Any information on the fate of VH-OBI (c/n 04525) last heard of at Tocumwal, NSW in March 2008 would be welcome.

He could not remember the guys name and he has since gone out of buisness. Any info would be great.

VH-OBI

Hi,
just a quick update about VH-OBI.
I can confirm that it is still located in the Ex sportavia hangar at Tocumwal, it was sold to NT charter company Air Frontier in 2011 but it has not flown in many years.OBI is still essentially an airworthy aircraft though it does need a bit of work before flying again.
Cheers Dan.

Dunno what became of DHE which sat for some years out at berwick in its (i assume) original northern territory aero medical service markings in a pretty dilapidated state. it was originally bought to casey by an american expat who planned to get it air worthy but that never eventuated, it changed hands a few times while it was there then it was taken away on a truck one day.

I was looking at it one day at Casey with Mac Job and i remember him saying "i saw this aircraft when it was brand spanking new and i was very jealous of the NT aero medical guys because they got the new aircraft and the SA aero medical service (who he flew for at the time) had to make do with DH 84 dragons". Imagine doing flying doctor work nowadays in what amounts to a large twin engine tiger moth!!!

Some years ago i went into the technical book shop here in Melbourne (To read aviation magazines of course!) and i noticed they had an outer wing panel with DHE clearly visible ...i asked the guy at the counter about it but he didn't have a clue about it. The technical bookshop closed down some years ago and i dont know what became of it or the rest of DHE.

DVE

Hi vee tail,

Thanks for sharing, I was there when DVE was assembled after being imported from england in 93. always liked the Sea Devons both DHI & DVE
i remember the 690 aswell. DVE unfortunatly sat at warnervale in NSW for many years and was vandalised, she is currently at Australian Aviation Museum under restoration as i understand Australian Aviation Museum
here is an early photo of her in service in nice colors De Havilland DH.104 Sea Devon C20, XJ319, Royal Navy
and on our site
VH-DVE
if you have any photos of DVE or stories you can share please PM me.

Cheers Dan

VH-EOB

It's still listed in the Aircraft Register!

I have been trying to get in contact with Emmet O'Brian but have had no luck
CASA Aircraft Register + White Pages if you haven't tried that yet. Mackay's not a big place!
