Bundaberg prang
"OUR ABC" is reporting a light aircraft prang. Bundy was mentioned and TV grab show what looks like a homebuilt.

Probably a half heard and completely misunderstood reference to avgas? I believe it was a Storm, ie 2 seater light sport type with a Rotax 912 - sound like efato from comments made elsewhere. Nasty by the look of it.

Aircraft was a Storm RAA type. Not a bad machine, around 110 knots, 2 seat low wing, one of the earlier styles before the Lancair copies like the PiperSport came along. Usually fitted with a Rotax but there are some out there with Jabiru powerplants fitted.

Conflicting reports are around at the moment, but the latest is that the pilot didn't survive & fwiw was Jab powered 2.2 & had executed a go around.

Your phone needs to be on.
Same technology was used to locate the lost Dragon out of Caboolture.
This technology was used in Melbourne in the Jill Maeger case where she was murdered. Her phone was left on, retrospectively tracked, noted to have travelled on Melbourne's Citylink, then the police matched the times that her phone passed under the Citylink toll points and then matched that to the rego of the alleged, then tracked his phone to find he took the same route as the deceased's phone.
Ever seen google maps traffic? It works because all Android (I believe) phones report back to Google at certain intervals. Google maps uses a number of algorithms to then determine if clusters of mobile phones on the road indicate the traffic condition. If iPhones did this too, traffic reporting would be much more accurate. You can download an app for Android that shows where you have been recently... Recording is on by default. If you intend committing a crime (or a crime in the eyes of your wife), you'd better turn off your phone and also don't take a car with a built in GPS because it's all in there too!

Very sorry to hear of Ben's passing. He was one of the first people I met when I first moved to Tumut more than 20 years ago, and he helped bring me into the community. Thinking of his family at this time.
very sad day for all concerned. Sorry for posting the "wrong" stuff on our Bundy friend's non-demise but the reporter on the news I heard today obviously mixed the two incidents up. I pray that he recovers soon.
Sorry TBM, wasn't having a go and you were by no means the only one reporting the poor bloke's premature demise.
If it weren't for the underlying tragedy, you could even find a certain morbid humour in the situation - so far our Bundy friend has been reported as; badly injured, deceased, alive but seriously injured, deceased and now alive but badly banged up in a Brisbane hospital. I managed to confuse the situation by reporting a Rotax as motive power, which was subsequently corrected to a Jab 4 cyl and now I'm told that it is a Jab, but rather a 6 cyl model - and definitely didn't have anything to do with the crash!
Reported elsewhere that the pilot did a go around and either sunk into scrub or clipped a tall tree and then dropped into the bush and may or may not have been experiencing trouble with said Jab at the time. Unfortunately being an RAA registered aircraft the investigation is largely behind closed doors and we are reliant on the bush telegraph to piece together some semblance of intelligence on what happened.

I haven't heard anything further about the cause of this one (Bundy), but sadly I see it is reported elsewhere by a family friend, that life support has been turned off.
