blue mountains scenic

Spelling Nazi and I are planning on doing a blue mountains scenic.

What height are we permitted to fly up lake burragorang ?We would like to fly from Bankstown to Camden to Katoomba up the lake.We have read the "fly neighbourly" advice. The lake is about 110m the lowest altitude altitude advised would seem to be 2300' . Would prefer lower.

We have the map from
national parks showing sensitive areas and the lake is not sensitive
so are we permitted to fly lower than 2000 agl over the lake?

National parks are very vague having spoken to two different people

Ejectx3,
The good people of the National Parks are not experts on aviation regulation, and few would even know there was a "fly neighborly" area.
Respect the fly neighborly area and otherwise comply with the regulations on heights you can fly, and, of course, any airspace restrictions, not limited to Richmond zone.
"Tis all on the charts.
Tootle pip!!

There are people who have gone low along the dam, and there are people who have hit power lines, hit the phone box on the island, stalled while orbiting the phone box, flown into the water, and there are lots of dead people in the dam.

Now, what was your question?

powerlines

Ejectx
not all the powerlines are on the chart or marked so no low flying. Lots of ghosts in the valley. Be aware the powerlines near oberon were sandblasted to reduce reflection and the tower painted green as an environmental condition for installation!!!!!!

The original FNA was instigated by a Bell 47 and repetitive operations.

Led sled,
the Parkies were intimately involved and regularly operate from their own helipad at blackheath. Their old chief pilot had considerable input into stopping restricted airspace being imposed for environmental reasons after the greenies tried to influence operations after a seaking low flying sortie.

tootle pip.

Catseye,
Agreed, and re. the greenies demands, so were others, but when you ring the Parks phones, it is not the guys from the flying unit you get.

Ejextx3,
If you stick to the rules on heights to fly, you will not hit wires --- low flying is plain dumb, it is a fact that a number of dams around NSW have bodies of dumb pilots ans their passengers as their last resting place.

If you don't ever go low flying, you ain't gunna to die in a low flying accident -- as so many have done.

Tootle pip!!
