Auckland seaplanes

Any word of aircraft type or location? Surely there's been some proving flights or something going on.....

Will be very cool to have floats in AKL again!

I'm not aware of any aircraft operations yet, proving or otherwise, unless they've been very discrete which is difficult on the Auckland waterfront!

Indeed, I'm wondering if they will be using the old mechanics bay seaplane ramp....

If they are using floatplanes there would be no need to use the ramp, a pontoon anchored at the end of a wharf somewhere would suffice. And who said they had to operate from the city waterfront? I reckon Devonport would be a better location.

ZK-AMA DHC-2 (1477)

Just a heads up, the Beaver C-GBVR was registered ZK-AMA on 09-Jul-2013 to Auckland Seaplane Services Ltd.

Damn shame if the NIMBYs do stop it.
Nothing like sitting on the shore at Rose Bay on a sunny afternoon and watching the Beavers and Caravans come and go.
Very pretty.

It looks like it is on EDO 4930's, these are defiantly the best float for beaver to be mounted on.
