Call is made for a shake up of the NZ CAA

Parents of a crash victim of the Fletcher FU24 accident in New Zealand are calling for a regulatory shake up.
Wonder if the CAA would react the same way CAsA does in such matters and/or in such inquiries?

They need a good shakeup alright. But I don't know if this is the right way to do it. And I wonder who the hell will pay for it? Just another chance for Bill English to extract more $ out of us.

Too many time servers sitting in Asteron House shining seats, not enough aviation type people out in the field.

Come back CAD, all is forgiven.

Having just gone through a Trans Tasman Agreement conversion, the NZ CAA are a breath of fresh air compared to CASA. To place a recent conversion on my Aussie licence took two months. Took our Kiwi cousins 7 days.

CASA sent me a blunt and to be honest, quite rude letter, because the application had no attached 'sticky label'. "This application is considered closed" they snarled. The Kiwi application was just a photo copy and again with no label. (a mistake by Qantas, not me) As I said, all fixed in 7 days. Subsequent dealings with the NZ staff on the phone was very pleasant. CASA wouldn't even answer.

Your CAA is fine by me. The plastic card licence is a little 'Mickey Mouse' though.

It was a very sad and unfortunate incident however I really would hate to see NZ turned into the nightmare of excessive red tape that the Genius pencil pushers in CASA have turned Australia into.
