The Home of Photos in Dunnunda! Mk II
I wonder why the pilots flying the Tiger Moths in these pictures deliberately leave their hatches undone and flapping in the slipstream? It was never done in the RAAF Tiger Moth era. It smacks of boganism similar to car drivers who ever so casually drive with their right arm resting outside the door with a cigarette in their fingers and driving with one hand.
The RAAF Tiger Moth pre-take off checks circa 1951 started with "Harness and Hatches....Secure. That meant the cockpit hatches for both pilot positions, and the baggage hatch on the right side of the fuselage aft of the rear cockpit were securely locked in place. If the hinges just happened to give way on any of the afore-mentioned hatches in flight because of the hatches are unsecured in the breeze, a hatch could let go and clobber the tail area with potentially devastating results.

Both aircrafts come in pairs in case of a malfunction."

I've flown a number of moths and I see no problem in leaving the door down. The RAAF never flew them like that? Ah well.
I noticed quite a few different (than usual) machines at Sydney in the private jet area too, some nice hardware (during G20).

Courtesy of Geoff Goodall (again): never met this fellah, but I'd like to buy him a beer or two one wet , cold day, sitting by a fire having a long yarn and look through his collection. Impressive stuff......

To save from posting a bunch of pictures on here, I'll just link an album:
I was one of the pax on the final Qantas 767 service - VH-OGL. A very well done occasion!

What Flying Was Like in 1958
At 02:56 and a bit, what is happening in engine #1? Possibly again at 03:02.
I don't think it's the film quality.
Happy New Year
