Jaba,
I don't think I could take $50k, much as I reckon you're a good bloke and all.

There's a bit more to this painting caper than one would think...
Looks good though, doesn't it. Rego in the tail in colour now.
Now I'll have to do the interior
It is going back to work next week, so it won't look this good again

It sure is as sexy as she has looked in years

So how many engines per paint job does she get? you get through engines faster than most.... must be a spectacular ratio!

Jaba,
I reckon it was painted in the 80's or early 90's by Douglas's. They did a top job with prep, as we had very little issue with the surface once stripped.
I've had it since 2005 and am on the last 3rd of it's 3rd engine.
At that rate there will be quite a few engines for this paint job.

Cheers,

So that is around 5,200 hours in seven years - good utilisation, good economics but certainly not excessive.

C310B VH-REK

Hey Skywagon,

The pics of REK brought back memories as at the time it was owned by a Gold Coast opal miner. I did some time on this & one other "straight-tail" 310, TTM - prawn spotting) in the period, apart from a heap of other model 310's before & since. Could tell you a tale about how REK became Coolangatta Tower one night.

Cheers.

Ben

Still sleek and graceful nearly sixty years later. We are fortunate indeed to have her in our skies .....

DF,
The DEH uses their own machine these days, unfortunately for me.
I'll get back down there one day.

You mean the 206 out of Portamagutta? That thing does stuff all these days, unlike when RY used to fly it. Used to carve a veritable road in the sky between YPAG & YINN then!

Pianoman, your photo is half out of focus

Gee look at all that corrosion, I guess that's inevitable on a float plane and that's what we can see, I'd hate to start digging behind the scenes.

Yep! It's everywhere! CASA will be all over this.... wondering where it is!?

Having been a float pilot in a previous lifetime, just wipe your hands, and don't put your wet, salty feet all over the rudder pedals!

The green fluff all around the switches is surface corrosion, look closely at the pic.
