Beechcraft Barron Endorsement
Hi all, just wanting to find out if there is anyone in Melbourne who conducts Barron endorsements?
Or who is willing to cross hire their Barron to a flying school whom I could do the endo through?
I have already done my MECIR.
More than happy to accept PM's if you prefer.

Class endorsement
IIRC, the Baron endorsement is a class endorsement which includes the Beech Travelair - hence you can train on a travelair and, when passed, fly a Baron. There are plenty of MB schools who offer Travelairs (note, they're probably all offering the same aircraft crosshired at exorbitant markup)
Whether or not that is wise is a whole different question.

If you have zero luck here in ML try Air South of Adelaide. I did a Google search & they came up as doing training in a BE58 amongst other types.
Hate to imagine what the hourly cost of such a machine would be these days.
I can recall a PA31 going out for hire at $600 an hr & that wasn't long after the 'Wright' Bros took off!

Binis have a Baron and do a good endorsement.
However, if you don't mind the drive, head to Lilydale and hop on their travelair. Lilydale Airport
No long waits on the tarmac definitely count when you're sitting in a twin charged out at VDO!

I was also thinking about getting my MECIR done in a baron or Beech Travelair.
Either way, once you have the endorsement on one of them, you can fly the other.
I know RVAC in Moorabbin operate a Beech Travelair, and the only one who actually own's Beech Baron 58 are Peter Bini but they charge big bucks $$$

Wherever you go or whoever does the endo ake sure you understand the different systems between the 58 and 55 series. W+B in particular and aske them why they (Beech) changed the original quadrant set up.

However, getting a Baron endorsement is one thing and reasonably easy. Convincing someone to hire you a Baron after you have gained the endorsement is something else again.
Most organisations hiring out Barons will insist on a minimum of MECIR, 500 PIC hours total twin time with at least 100 PIC type hours on the Be55/58 (time on the Be95 Travelair will not count as contributing towards the 100 Be55/58 type hours).
So the serious question you need to ask yourself is why spend the money on a Baron endorsement when you most likely won't be able to hire one after you have gained your endorsement anyway? However, if you know someone who is prepared to hire one out to you privately, go for it. The alternative is to build up Be55/58 PIC type hours with another experienced Baron pilot in the other seat (provided the insurance company agrees) until such time as you meet the minimum hiring requirements.
What? No suggestions about one for hire in Darwin, even though they want a Melb location?

Hello, I'm looking for somewhere that offers an endorsement on the Travelair/Baron in either Darwin or around Brisbane(Sunshine Coast down to Gold Coast).
Would anyone know of anywhere?
I know Flight One in Archerfield offers a Baron but the rate of $1001/hr is pretty steep.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi, thanks for the reply to my post about the Baron endo. Just wondering, you wouldn't happen to know of any operators who are willing to take along someone in the right hand seat and gain experience and learn from the experienced pilot as they conduct their flight would you?
TAC (The Aviation Centre) -Tyabb and Moorabbin - had/have two Travelairs- and it is usually theirs that gets cross hired to other operators, whom of course add their mark-up. Cheaper to go direct.
