Don't know why you'd be trying Queensland with a bare CPL. Your options will be pretty limited

Out of curiosity what did you do your flight test in?

You might want to get some time in a 206/210, at least then you'll know what to expect should you get the opportunity for a check flight

What is considered "fresh" with NW Australia operators these days? I remember a while back that if one had around 500-600 TT he/she wasn't "fresh" however 270TT is a touch better than someone with 200TT. I was speaking to a contact up north 2 seasons back and they don't have any preference for people with 300TT against 170 TT etc ... Just commitment (one source only). There are some detailed threads on here with priceless information and worth reading up.

As mentioned above, a few hours on a 206/210 will give you an idea of how they work. At least you won't end up bouncing down the runway on your first go in front of an operator oops lol

Good Luck

Keep a positive outlook !!!

Yep, you're a veteran with hours like that.

Unless you have had a paying job, then you're green. Simple.

As for the retrac, the Kiwis do their entire CPL in a C152 unlike the greater than 120 kts, CSU equipped requirement in Australia.

Slapping the CP on the bum then asking for a job, now that's fresh.

WRT the Retrac, I think that CASA changed the wording to say that you only needed to finish off in a 'complex' aircraft meaning >120 KTAS and Manual Prop Pitch Control (no longer refereed to as CSU given that some CSUs only have one lever to do the job usually accomplished by Throttle and Pitch).

Sounds like the young bloke is from NZed, so he wouldn't have an ASIC.

And 70hrs more than 200hrs, that's gonna make a huge difference, you should go straight onto a twin with that, .

For all intents & purposes, you're considered fresh and green. I even considered myself that when I went job hunting with 360hrs.

And with hours like that, you will have to expand your search beyond QLD if you want any chance of finding a job. While not impossible, it's definitely not easy to find a first job in QLD.

Head to WA and NT, get a car that you can potentially sleep in (ie a wagon or something), get some CV's made up and start looking up all the operators that are around in the GA scene up north (these have been posted on here several times).

Def get your ASIC, try and get a DG Cert too. Also try and do even a few hours in a C206/210 as that will be a huge help!

Be prepared to be mobile and patient.

There's heaps of your sheep shagger bro's up here too so it'll feel like home

No but you do need an Flight Crew Licence ID but if you're going to do that I think that an ASIC is only $20 more from memory... and an absolute MUST for any pilot or terrorist.

GO WEST YOUNG MAN, HAVEN'T YOU BEEN TOLD? CALIFORNIA'S FULL OF WOMEN, WHISKEY AND GOLD.

Brad, Weenland's got nothing but a bunch on Weenlanders and cattle and I dare-say the cattle aren't nearly as obliging as the ewes yous use over Aotearoa or in Fununurra, WA.

Also, maybe send me a PM if looking other than in QLD.

I had my CPL application sent back to me because CASA had no record of me holding an ASIC! (It was issued by another organisation)
