No one can just walk away and you can't take any action through the courts that can absolve you of any responsability especially when there is potenially criminal activity involved. Given the total amount owing to staff and other creditors including the tax office there will be no walking away from this mess.

Maybe a good idea for PPRUNE would be to put a cooling off period on proby posters? eg When you sign up don't let them post anything for a few days?
