Question DGA Approaches and Outdated Databases

Had a quick question regarding the legality of using a tso'd unit with an outdated database as distance reference in a DGA or VOR/DME approach.

Seem to recall it was possible provided that the waypoint data for the aid was cross-checked for validity. Does anyone happen to have a reference either allowing or refuting this?

Not below LSALT or MSA unless the database is current, as far as I recall

The answer is no. Haven't got my jepps on me but the AIP reference is:

ENR:

13.2 GPS
13.2.1 Subject to the restrictions in para 13.2.2, GPS systems meeting
the requirements of GEN 1.5 Section 8. may be used for distance
measurement during the conduct of a DME or GPS Arrival.
13.2.2 The following specific restrictions apply to the conduct of a GPS
Arrival:
a. The database medium (card, chip, etc) must be current and of a
kind endorsed by the receiver manufacturer.

b. The coordinates of the destination VOR or NDB, to which the
descent procedure relates, must not be capable of modification
by the operator or crew.
