Unhappy Bad news

There is a course a few days before Christmas (Crz FO), unsure of how many on it.

Contracts have gone out to those who were successful, and rumour has it that is the last of the hold file. If you want to get into Virgin now, it will be through VARA. It is apparently looking likely that VARA guys will be integrated into the list as of this coming Jan and have a DOJ of Jan 2014.

VARA are allowing more pilots to go to VA as they did with hold a few from the recent VA intake. I Did hear yesterday another CRZ FO intake will happen January.

Digaf, not true. More courses planned for Jan however VARA internals are on the move again so this dramatically slow down recruitment from the hold again

It sounded to me like the last email sent out was to get an update on current experience and now they can run down the list from most hours to least. Luck of the draw!

Okay interesting about another course, hopefully the Vara guys don't slow hold file down then.

They are taking guys off the hold from top to bottom - correct, however I know for a fact it's not in order of hours or experience, it is how you scored on the day of your interview 👍

Digaf, that is definitely possible as I did hear a while ago they had restructured the hold file. It sounds like things may be in the works now and possibly more calls going out mid Dec for Jan 2015 start dates. No indication if for cruiser or NZ positions though. Good luck everyone

Guys, are there any more rumours going around about VARA integration? For example if you were to enter as a VANZ FO you obviously would be junior to ALL VARA pilots and this would significantly effect your bidding options in the future! I did check the AFAP briefing and all it mentions is that all new hires will be made aware of VARA GDOJ of Jan 2014

...or you could look at it like this:

With one combined list a VANZ FO could bid for a an ATR/F100 command down the track.

There's still hope

The GDOJ of 1/1/14 is contingent upon VARA pilots having voted up the EBA by the middle of 2015. After this time, VAA and VIPA would "revisit their position" on the GDOJ for VARA pilots.

Has anyone got any info on Virgin NZ hiring 737 First Officers anytime soon?

Rumour is they are contacting external applicants for a Jan 2015 start date. Maybe up to 12 FO slots...

Anyone had a call?

No call here. I am intrigued as I received an email to update CV and reference's about a month ago then a further email a few weeks back suggesting an update mid Dec. Still waiting for that update. It is true however that a vanz course is imminent with all externals planned.

Are VANZ new hires still required to pay for their 738 ratings up front?
