The email only states which positions are coming up for internal bidding and for those on hold or those wishing to transfer.

As for external hiring, which there is none going on at the moment, or the requirements for Vara guys it would be the same as what is listed on the website. 1000 hours and 500 multi

I haven't looked for a while but I'm sure the recruitment page for pilots still says we are not currently hiring air crew.

Digaf,

I have heard no movement between holds (ie vaa-vai or vanz) due to too many on all hold files. So those of us on domestic hold won't be seeing any cruise fo offers. Also no movement from vaa hold file this time as there aren't enough vacancies to hire externally. Doesn't sound very promising at all. I agree that by the time enough vacancies finally come up the vara transition will be in place rendering the hold file obsolete.

I have been told VA have a company wide freeze on hiring externally for ANY advertised positions (including flight crew) therefore VARA will get preference as they are within the VA group even though not on VA mainlines seniority list.

also with the leaving of 8 crfos recently to vanz and the remaining crfos numbers down to a minimum on the 777 they probably cant afford to let anymore crfos go to either VAA or VANZ, therefore maybe the remainding 737 FO positions will go to some lucky VARA guys...

Why would VAA want to retrain VARA pilots and then hire/ train a new ATR pilot?

Based on that logic, why would they release the VARA guys when they'll run short themselves?

Heard they'll run 2 rfo courses, one to replace the recently transferred and another to replace the ones that go to the 737. Where the get the rfos from who knows, most likely the hold file.

I think the E-Jet, VANZ 737, VAI SO's and even the VAA 737 pilots who want a base transfer would have something to say about VARA guys getting a 737 slot ahead of them. It's internal. After the internal shuffle has finished, SO positions will become available. As others have said, if you want to work for Virgin, take any job they offer. Think long term.

By my count VAI will need at least 13 CRFOs shortly.

Just announced 16 Crfo's transferring to B737 Per & Mel bases, no specific timeframe on these course dates.

The Crfo courses scheduled this year has a total of 12 replacements.

Can't you elect to go to VAI?

I wouldn't be turning it down if it was offered. It's a start.

Morno,

I recently enquired in the hope of getting a start at all, and was given a definitive "NO".
