How is the Skywest /VARA group seniority progressing if that goes ahead I can see a few turboprop f/os putting there hand up for CRZ f/o slots meaning that initial recruitment may be through VARA.

I have heard there are 24-30 positions coming up end of the year; 8 x 777 SO, 12 x 737 VANZ FO, and the rest VAA.
anyone got some hard numbers and dates?
something also about perth Ejet guys being transferred to 777 or VANZ to avoid redundancies due to VARA A320 taking over a lot of their flying
might be some hope yet for us guys on the hold file!

I get asked for advice on this quite frequently, so to all:
If you want a job as a Virgin Australia pilot, pursue and take any job offered as a Virgin Australia pilot.
For the time being I include VAA, VAI, VANZ, but not VARA, TT.

E-jet base in PER is winding up, some will find themselves on the 737 in PER, others may find themselves E-jetting on the east coast.
I'm actually interested to see what eventually happens with the VAI/VA numbers. CASA have indicated VAI crews will be unable to operate VA 737's which is going to remove a lot of resources out of VA. This is only my opinion but I can see VA requiring a fair amount of 737 drivers to fill the gap that the VAI guys have left.
Time will tell

Why does CASA have that position?

Atlas and Tiger
Ive seen the email (issued by VA flight crew management), the bottom line is cut off but it says something along the lines that VARA can register interest by applying online. I take that as been no different to external applicants. And why would it be: They are not on the list so have no preference over those on hold. If by chance they are given a chance before others to come across they will still have to do sim and interview. I couldn't imagine them wasting the resources especially when there is still numerous guys on hold.
From word around the traps and rumours from mates, most of the guys on hold have moved on. I knew maybe 6 guys on hold, 4 of which have moved on. Plus all the guys that were on hold for domestic might not want to be a cruise fo, otherwise they would have taken the chance when it come up 18 months ago. Also remember with Melb base and domicile closing guys might not want to commute so will not take it either, as they will be Bris based as per the last two emails that the company issued re flt crew reqs.
I dare say that VARA guys may be on some sort of list in the next 18 months, so if your number isn't up by the end of the year that will be it. That will make it almost 3 years after interviewing. Id say this is the last chance for anyone on hold.
Good luck.
