it's actually LNB with the dihedral tail and the usurping FNP (a P2).
Think you are quite correct, On Eyre.
And for what it's worth; FNP was previous to that registration, P2-RDN with Talair, and from memory I once hitched a ride in that a/c from Madang back to Port Moresby way back in my (way too short) taim bilong PNG.

Pinky
Probably do know, or know of each other. Did 4,900 hours in Bandits in various locations in S.A., Qld, and the Pacific both Single Pilot and 2 crew, so thats what I mean by wanting another 100 hours to round out the logbook. But it won't happen now... The Gov't has even decreed if I don't spend at least $20,000 to give them a second opinion I can't even fly my Pride and Joy, my Cessna Frigate Bird. Bit much for an Old-age Pensioner who had hoped for another 10 years before hanging up the headphones. Only came on here today to find out the type in the Columbia crash, then saw your post. Will see if the mail service works.

VH?-KGQ King Island Airlines? Still active at Moorabbin? Haven't seen it for a while. And on the subject what will operators like King Island do to replace their Chieftains? Single engine RPT out of the question so what's left? B1900, Viking Twotter, Beech 99??

Wasn't LNB originally WPE with Hazo's?

You must be a big fan of the Embraer product frigatebird?

There is a number of Emb110's parked at YMEN, one of those is KGQ of King Island Airlines.

Aboriginal Air Bandit used to be parked near Interair, could see it from the freeway. Didn't see it there last weekend, although I did see an old Pearl B200 parked up, anyone know what the rego and status of that is?

Correct. And after ASA folded, it was exported to become TG-TAG

Apparently the old VH-LNC is still on the ground at YPLC, stashed away somewhere in a corner of the Airfield and slowly rotting away!

I don't recollect seeing a derelict Bandit at YPLC. But my last visit was a few years ago. There were a couple of rather sad looking, ex tuna spotting, C337s.

(What did amaze me though, on a two night stop there was how a bird was able to build a nest so quickly. Between No. 4 and 6 cylinders on that Bonanza.
We've never gone anywhere since, without intake blanks.)

Gerry 111 - The remains of LNC are sitting near the eastern boundary of the PLC airport. Been there for probably four years now.
Record for a bird nest complete with two eggs is 35 minutes from shutdown at PLC. Lucky you checked and bungs are good but not complete insurance.

You could say I have been a fan of all the products flown Stationair8. But it was more a case of the type operated by the company (companies) I worked for at the time.(s). Prior to the Bandeirante endorsement I was flying Metro 2 single pilot, and later flew ATR-42 multi-crew.

I used to fly one out of Aeropelican which was 800 meters, lightly loaded and on non rev or training flights.

Hence my handle - Duck Pilot 🤡

Sadly it was well before my time.

They tried the Bandit for a while however it didn’t last that long before they went to a Metro and then the Jetstream.

The Twin Otters were the best Otters I had ever flown, post Ansett collapse, KZN, KZO and KZP if I recall, the bandit was TLH which come from Air Mount Isa.

ATC in Sydney loved the Otters as we could do some pretty good manoeuvring in amongst the jets!!!

Great fun flying, and not so long ago.

I was only on the sidelines for that one, anybody remember more detail ---- the present incompetence of CASA is nothing new.

But his long running fights with Sir Donald Anderson, DG of DCA, destroyed him, and not just financially. Again a sad anti-aviation story.

not really, the garretts weren't terribly reliable. I understand they had numerous failures. Should of put on pt6's but they were kind of PO'd with Canada due to BBD

Does anyone have any documentation (e.g. POH) for the Bandeirante he's willing to share?

who are you referring to Keith Hilder or Masling?
I’m assuming Masling as Keith Hilder owner of Aeropelicanand several other businesses were financially strong until the day he died (and afterwards) of a heart attack in 1976 (64 yrs old)

it was interesting. There were 7 of them. Often had two departing together (prior to the twotters)
i cant remember the performance figures but they would often have 10 adults on board out of a 800round about (slightly less) metres of runway with obstacles at one end and the possibility of a mast appearing at the other during the take-off roll.
