C210 hire / training

Anyone know where I could buy some time in a C210? A flight with someone who can show me the ropes plus some solo time so I can have ~5 or more hours in one?

Anywhere around the country will suite but preferably towards the south/sth east coast - Adel/Alice/Melb/Syd/in the middle

Thanks & feel free to priv message me any info

I've tried google and some searches and come up with maybe 2 places but am looking for anything more or anything that would come highly recommended.

He didnt say he wanted an endorsement... just that he wanted some time in them.

The 206 will be close enough, or call Woorayl Air Services at Leongatha. They have access to a 210.

Check out Handel Aviation - Cessna 210 Hire, Sydney Australia - an excellent C210 and they will get you to fly with someone from Airborne Aviation for the initial endorsement.

Made a few calls today to the companies mentioned.

Woorayl Air Services at Leongatha no longer have access to the 210 any more nor anything similar.

New England Flight Training Armidale have a 210.
$385 dual/wet - $335 solo/hire/wet. Spoke to a nice bloke by the name Stuart, and if you wanted to do a check with no prior 210 time, it could be about 2-4 hrs depending on how well you handle the aircraft.

Rockhampton Aero Club requires a minimum of 500 hours, unsure of rates.

There's also Gippsland Flight Centre with a 210 - West Sale.
They ask you to do a 5 hr check plus 5 hrs of ground briefs.
$385 duel/wet - $350 solo/hire/wet

Do employers prefer 210 or 206 time when just starting out? Is there really that much difference? Apart from the retractable they are both 200 series...

I've been looking for 206 checks/hire around Vic although haven't had much luck, anyone got any info to share?

"Is there really that much difference?"

One will have you smiling from ear to ear when you first firewall that throttle.

The other will still have you smiling after you leave the ground

Send me a PM i may be able to assist with a C206, you would be required to do a check flight, normally ~2hrs if you are already CSU endorsed.

I will look into the costing and reply to the PM

"5 hr check plus 5 hrs of ground briefs."
"minimum of 500 hours"
This whole C210 thing is becoming a joke, it has all of a sudden become the space shuttle according to these schools. It is a simple plane, easy to handle, why the need for 5 hrs of briefing 5 hrs dual, and who come up with a 500hr minimum.

Makes my 3 circuits as a 120 hr PPL look a bit underdone, huh?

PS: That was back in the mid-70's. Saw the very aeroplane VH-DTX (new when I flew it) on the ground at Winton a couple of months ago. Re-furbished, gear mod done, nice new panel - much loved!

Yeah Forkie,

Dem good ole days...(1966)...I did mine in an hour or so - mostly doing stall recovery / steep turns / and learning how to slow it down......getting the 'feel' for it, and a few circuits at BK.

Did spend a fair bit of time crawling over it to learn the hydraulics etc, and just how did that gear work....all hydraulics then...

Cannot really see the 'why' for 5 hrs ....unless the owner considers 'engine management' skills to be lacking.....

Seen that before.

Mind you, they don't teach 'em like they used ta.....(IMHO)

The Armidale offer seems 'reasonable' - a couple of hrs for someone 'sensible', - to get the feel for it - and to learn how the owner would like his engine managed.

I also recommend New England Flight Training.

I've flown Stuart's 210 myself, VH-JFT and it's probably the best 210 around. Perfectly maintained, fully IFR/NVFR rated with a great cockpit. Had a new paint job last december. It's a 210 J model, 4 seaters only but that's all you need if you just want to do some hours.

Best 210 I've ever flown! And Stuart is a really good bloke with a lot of experience, I'm sure he'll teach you more than just how to fly a 210.

All you need to do is book it in advance and do a dual check (prob 1.5 hrs dual) and then he'll let you take it solo

Correct - now.

Not so, then.

And the guy just wants to buy some T I M E on said machine......'famil'...

A 'Space Shuttle' it isn't. A rather nice 'single with the fruit' - it is.
It does have some 'slippery habits' - but no more or less than some other similar performance types.
They all have their systems and other differences which one should get to know about. I think that might be called 'famil' - you know what I mean....
