Jetstar Out Of Towners In Darwin

Just a question about out of towners coming to Darwin and doing the flying with accommodation and allowances included while many of the residents sit at home on standby or days off. Not that days off or standbys without a call out are bad but when many have families living in another state, type ratings to pay off, additional rent to pay in Australia's most expensive city, transport, taxes and commuting costs, it does add up and leaves many in darwin with a sour taste in their mouth. Who should shoulder the blame? Crewing themselves or those from interstate calling up crewing for work in Darwin? Just another issue in this company that causes even more disunity amongst the troops. Bring on your heart felt comments!

G'day mate, maybe you wanna post your concerns on Aircrew?

The same happens in Perth. No overtime, but more (quality?) time spent at home. Make the most of it. I definitely don't go blaming the "out of towners", or crewing for that matter.

Make lemonade, or switch bases as soon as you can. If you're a Darwin local and want more money, become a miner.

Have a good look at the mob you've joined & ask how the senior guys have got there. Undercutting others is the answer.

Its every man for himself at Jetstar, unity or respect for others will never be a part of the operation.

You have yourself to blame for taking a job in a city you obviously dont want to be in, and for paying for an endorsement which you are now whinging about it.
