C210 Rating Brisbane

Hi there all.

I have searched and found older threads regarding the above. With nothing recent (and only PM responses), would anyone mind shedding any light on where a budding charter pilot could do a couple of hours in a C210 before heading north in search of work?

Also if anyone has any C210 notes.POH on pdf would greatly appreciate them.

Cheers

You can find some pretty useful C210 handling notes here:

Just be careful with those notes for VH-ZIO. A great reference indeed but there are some glitches in the performance data that appears to be typed in and not copied from the POH.

Looks like a nice machine.

Do some Google searches for Flight Express. They run a lot of 210s in the States on freight runs and seem to have a fair number of PDF files regarding the 210 online. I found one with most or all their flow checks, checklists, etc and trying to find that just now I got several other hits that seemed to have some useful info in them while I scanned over them.

If you don't mind driving or taking the bus down to Armidale for the weekend, I'll put in a plug for stewart hignett down there (New England flight training). I did a check with them a while back, nice tidy machine, and not too pricey.
There's a backpackers in town if you need somewhere to stay on the cheap.

I'll second Armidale, he's a good operator, used to be a regional captain also.

In addition to the backpackers, its also a University town... Ah the memories....

I believe that Air Gold Coast have a C210 available to them for training. Not sure of the details, it's after my time.

While we're (sort of) on the subject, can I please ask that unless we're Kiwis, in NZ, talking about ZK-registered aircraft, can we please stop referring to it as a type rating/endorsement? In Oz we have one all-encompassing class endorsement: Single-Engine Aircraft <5700kg. Everything from a Jabiru to an AN-2!

Don't bother to jump down Aero's throat about CSU/RET and aircraft like the AN-2 and C208 (which I know he is aware of). (Silly boy, you owe me a 6-pack)

To clarify for the kiwis, if you want to know about what you need for Aussie a/c (as in specific endorsements), refer to CAO 40.1.0
Everything else is covered under the <5700 class as long as you hold the design feature endo applicable to the endorsement.
NOTE: THIS MEANS YOU CANNOT FLY A PRESSURISED A/C IF YOU DO NOT HOLD A PRESSURISATION ENDO, EVEN IF YOU DO NOT USE THE PRESSURISATION.
(Would you be allowed to fly a retractable without the DFE if you left the gear down for the entire flight? DUH)

CONTINUAL REFERENCE TO "ENDORSEMENTS" FOR AIRCRAFT THAT DON'T NEED ONE JUST DEMONSTRATES YOUR IGNORANCE OF THE RULES OF THE COUNTRY IN WHICH YOU WANT TO OPERATE AN AIRCRAFT COMMERCIALLY.

Learning these rules will help you get employment.

www.casa.gov.au/download/orders/cao40/400100.pdf

here is the link to CAO 40 regarding Class ratings and Endorsements.
You will note on page 23 it states that the AN2 requires a class rating, therefore its not wise to assume that you will be covered to fly anything that is under 5.7 ton, best to check.

C210 Poh

You cannot just grab any old C210 handbook and think you can jump into any old C210 and fly it (plus any owner in their right mind wont let you). You will need to have the exact model POH in which you intend to fly. The C210 model range probably have the greatest number of changes off all aircraft ever built. I dont know of any other aircraft type that has so many different characteristics. There are numerous different types of engines, speeds, weights, seating arrangements and hydraulic systems used.
And as MakeItHappenCaptain said, the C210 IS NOT A RATING OR TYPE ENDORSEMENT.
Having said that, they are not that hard to fly well and any competant CPL holder should be able to grab the correct model POH, and fly it safely.
I have a nice early model C210A available if anyone is interested. PM me for more detals.

Oh dear! Its not that complicated.

C210
If its got struts - don't retract the gear. Leave'm down and pretend its a C206.
If its got gear door - be prepared to land it gear up (not accidently!) when the doors refuse to open to let the gear out!
If it doesn't have gear doors, generally all good if its well maintained!

After all its just a SE, retractable, CSU aeroplane.

Dr

PS: Oh yeah, and if you are tempted to pull the gear horn circuit breaker so that you can stooge around at a low power setting without that annoying gear - don't. It is likely to end in tears!

Aero dynamic academy in Caboolture(Brisbane area) has a Cessna 210J for hire.

If it's any help there's a good book called the Cessna 210 training manual which can give you an idea on how the C210 runs but it's by no means a replacement for the flight manual.

sorry to be dragging up an old thread-

however I am also after some 210 time (not the rating ) around the Brisbane area. Have attempted to make contact with Aero Dynamic with no response, as well as a few other places around the traps. If anybody else could help me out; would be much appreciated!

Does it have to be a 210?

If you're after 200 series time then there are a number of 206's around the Brisbane/greater Brisbane area.

Redcliffe Aero Club have one and I've seen one advertised for private hire in the aviation trader

WBB,

I guess it doesn't HAVE to be a 210, but I was hoping to split some time between the two, just to say I've flown both.

Thanks for the heads up on the private 206, will be sure to give him a call.

I've heard a wisper that another C210 might become available at Archerfield in the not too distant future (ie. in the next week or two). Once this is confirmed I'll post details.
