Sky dive Fiji

Hey, has anyone worked for these guys or know much about them, I am aware of a couple of threads on here but they did not tell much.

Do they treat the pilots ok what are the work conditions like etc. I get the feeling that you are expected to fly seven days a week is this right and is the plane a safe work horse or an unloved dog of a work horse.

Any info that is not just rumors would be good, why is the company advertising allot is it the pilots are pissed of and leaving or is it that they have just been unlucky with who they hire leaving them in limbo.

The money is really bad but I believe you also get paid extra per parachute load, how much do you end up with on an average week and whats the cost of living etc.

Thanks allot for anyone who can help, PM me if you like.

Well I'll choose my words carefully,

The plane is good now.. as of recently it's being looked after by an oz engineer who cares about his work.
Yes you'll be expected to be on call 7 days (one day off a week will be offered, but if it eventuates..)
Loads are booked 2hrs apart to allow time for the pax to be picked up from their hotels & driven to the a/c etc, first load booked at 10am next at 8am (so you don't needlessly have to get out of bed early) then 12pm etc etc. there's normally about 1.2hrs to kill between loads so bring a book or polish the a/c.

Make sure you go up to the tower & say hello get to know them (take a box of chocolates or something) this will make you life so much easier, they are a good bunch but their standards of service aren't too high so if they like you, you'll get priority.

You'll get $12.5 per revenue tandem or min $300 fijian a week + accommodation. Which is ok considering the local beer Gold or Bitter is around $40 a carton or $4.5 a stubbie at the bar. If you eat out expect dinner to be in the range of $15-25 & good lunch can be bought for about $5.

The last 2 pilots have given at least 1 months notice.

The work place is not a very happy one, but the staff to get along well & are a good bunch trying to do the best they can with the cards they've been dealt. A large exodus would be less than surprising in the near future.

Another thing to keep in mind, don’t go there expecting it to be an island paradise. Fiji is a 3rd world country & Nadi where the staff live & work is a world away from the island resorts.

Well that’s about all the niceties.
