Light Aircraft Down At Serpentine WA.

From Radio 6PR (Perth) and CH 7 'Chopper',

Sad News..
A light aircraft has crashed at Serpentine Airstrip, South of YPJT.
Description from CH7 reporter says aircraft 'destroyed', believed to be two fatalities.
Aircraft type / circumstances etc not known at this time.

I guess more details will be on CH7 news tonight.

Heard the Treasurer of SAAA/SABC? interviewed on the radio just now, he didn't see it happen but hearsay is the aircraft was doing aerobatics nearby and then lost control, it was not operating from Serpentine aitfield.

hey guys,

my sincere condolences to the family, amd my sympathy as well.

i am just new to aviation industry and doing my advance diploma in avaition, but are these crashes starting to occur oftenly? i remember that there was a couple of crashes in melbourne and another in northern territory? or is it just the media picking on the aviation industry just like what they are doing with qantas?

sorry, just out of curious, maybe it is the fact that im more focused on aviation.

but again, i really my deepest sympathy to all who are apart of those that were lost.

Mate, accidents have been happening since Adam was a boy, and you being interested in aviation now are probably just more aware than ever before of the media reporting.

Another thing to remember is not all the media print is what actually happened.

By the way, I am not perfect when it comes to spelling and grammar, but if I were you I would go to see my english teachers and ask where you both went wrong.

A Thorp T18 - quite similar to an Rv6 or 7. What a sad hell of a mess.

Thanks for that 'XXX'.

There was some earlier speculation on the radio (6PR) that it may have been a T-18, but no confirmation at that time.
A witness has also reported that the aircraft appeared to do an 'aerobatic manoeuvre', then 'spiral inverted' into the ground.
No mention of altitude or other details.

Very Sad all the same.

It's all over the papers if you google it. A number of pilots supposedly witnessed the event by the sounds of it, so hopefully something constructive comes from the analysis/interviews. There are reports of a loop gone horribly wrong but we'll have to wait and see as the crap is sorted from the fact which usually takes a day or two.

Following the PPrune posting rules for accidents mentioned here a couple of months back, here is the aircraft from airliners.net.

Sorry about my last post guys, heard it over the radio (as in FM/AM radio) and checked PPRUNE from my mobile phone, so far I have not heard of any other details on the TV or Radio, though I rarely take anything about aviation through the media seriously, they have their own biased opinions.

Dear All,

I have only just heard, but does anyone know anything about an Aircraft that departed Jandakot yesterday (Homebuilt?) to do Aero's in the training area and crashed?

My thoughts go out to the family and friends of all involved, a sad sad day.

Hey Jab,

The nom de of the poster AusIndo, suggests that he may well be from O/S, so you might wish for better treatment were you to post in Indonesian, say.

It is the concept that counts and as long as posters don't use horrible cliches like "It's a win-win situation", I, and I'm sure others don't mind.

Another thing to remember is not all the media print is what actually happened.
You're right about the reporting though

Always sad to hear of people and aeroplanes coming unstuck.

Good point ZEEBEE, i could have been more understanding, until just now when I read his second post which was much better! I do not expect perfect all the time, I make plenty of typo's too, but that was rather exceptional.

Oh dear..........should I have expected anything more??

"He believed the plane was attempting several aerobatic moves such as loop-to-loops ...."

I'm sure he meant to say it was doing the friggin' Hokey Pokey

I hope that the investigation will be expedited by the video footage.

Sad day when one hears of things such as this.........My sincere condolences to those personally touched by this tragedy

Jesus Al, I can't bloody believe it. Been out of town and come back to this.. You were a true all round good guy, thanks for all your help and advice and just for your laugh and kind demeanour, your cheery voice over the radio will be sadly missed... I will never forget the laughs we shared in the breezeway of a morning and you waving from the Dash when you taxiied in from a long flight.

Condolences to all who love and will miss you. A truly sad day for aviation in Perth
