Question Nav bag

I’m looking for a nav bag, but struggling to find a suitable one. I am after something similar in size and quality to the Jeppesen Aviator Bag, however, I’d like to be able to wheel it around and not have to carry it in my hand/on my shoulder.

I also saw a leather “pilot case” on wheels at a local shop, but it just looks too bulky and unattractive.

Does anyone know of a good nav bag, preferably not leather, with wheels? It also has to be not as large as the conventional “pilot case”. It doesn’t have to be made by an aviation brand, but it does need to have vertical access (as opposed to zip around as most traditional traveling cases have). Any suggestions?

Try one of the bag shops in your local shopping mall, I found my last two flight bags there, the first was a 25 buck bargain which got too small when I started IFR training, and the second one I found at a similar shop, it fits my needs perfectly and was half the price of similar aviation brand bags.

Just take all the stuff you want to carry and try it out in the shop, you'll know in a minute if you've got the right one.

I've found these little puppies fit my Jeps, Ersa, headset, etc., etc..
And they're cheap.
No wheels though but you get over it.

Try Scott Leather Company (US of A), Scott Leather Company and follow the links to flight kits. Good quality, pity the AUD has sunk as low as it is though!

I found the perfect solution for myself at the local DJ store in the form of a record bag. It opens at the top and it easily fit all my nav gear comfortably and has other pockets around the bag to store torches, fuel drains, maps, licence etc. Mine dosent have wheels but had a sholder strap and can also be used as a backpak. Try this web address for this bag i came across. if its not quite what you're after try ebay. Do a search for DJ bags, and there is a an online store that sells similar types. Now that you have brought the topic up i might order one with wheels!!! hope this helps you. UDG Sling Trolley Bag - Black - Buy online or in our store at Spank Records Sydney, Australia ::

Thanks PlankBlender.

I went to this luggage store on Pitt St mall yesterday avo (I think it was called Strandbags or something), but the sales chick just looked at me with this dumb facial expression when I asked her for a carry-on business type bag with vertical access…

I found this Samsonite one on the US site which looks fantastic, but a quick call to Samsonite revealed that this model is only available to the US market.

Used a nav bag like the one pictured above from Ambitious. It's still around somewhere. I gave up on it. Available cockpit space always seemed to be a few centimetres less than the dimensions of the bag and I was inclined to put more into the bag than I actually needed. The corners and edges caught and frayed. The only thing it was good for was taking all my study books to groundschool and flight training. I'm in full support of the Coles' bag. These days, I often take my laptop and I like the backpacks with padded laptop space and cell phone pocket. Fits all the things I need, tucks into the smallest spaces, is easy to carry, cheap enough and is very convenient. To each his own.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I was able to find exactly what I was looking for in the Delsey range - they have a good selection of pilot cases. Not cheap, but quite nicely made and durable by the look of them.

Altemeters,

Not a problem. Here are a few different models I got from the official Delsey website:

Let me know if you need the name of the store where you can get the one shown on the 1st picture and the price.
