Do you mean the one circulating between the CC?? If so... it was highly helpful to those who had short concentration spans, and seeing as we're not allowed to read manuals when paxing.. a great study aid before EPs....
Cannot believe they are making an issue of it... everything was taken from manuals, what's the problem?

Said in my best Northern Queensland nasal accent...
''Please explain??''
No offence Fellows, but just WTF are you on about?

Explanation
A LH CC, who is also a member of Emergency Services, put together a fantastic learning kit for emergency procedures. It comprised a CD with 200 EP questions with a prompt when an incorrect answer was given.Together with this was a laminated sheet with safety equipment locations, usage and relevant door calls, chimes and associated lights.
A fantastic study adjunct.
Qantas management has asked him to stop.
Something about them being miffed by his superior and accurate presaentation.
There should be a book burning organised for the front of QCCA.
Bunch of tossers

Did you say BUY them?
If an EP's instructor is SELLING a study guide then that is HIGHLY inappropriate! As much as QF might be a bit of a bore, this is totally out of line. Any intellectual property you create in the line of your work remains the property of QF (just like in every other company.)
Please tell me that this isn't the case...

I apologise, I misread Emergency Services for EP's.
The rest of it still stands... anything work related he produces in the course of his employment remains the property of Qantas. As much as you may not like it, the manuals are pretty clear.
The other issue I imagine they have is that it is an uncontrolled document which details Qantas Emergency Procedures... and I'm sure you are all aware that the QF EP's manual is a controlled document, with its contents restricted to Qantas personel only.
I can see why the company is concerned about an unauthorised reproduction of some contents of the manual in an uncontrolled document.

stay inside the square and dont you dare look outside of it.
probably some ladder climbing asshole trying to put a stop to something that is better than the real thing. i would have thought any exposure to anything ep related is a good thing for crew even if it is just learning the answers.
some of my best learning in life has occured during the preparation of cheat notes.

I'm with Comfy Chair here. It may also not just be QF but the regulator behind this decision - controlled docs and all.
The more mature approach from QF would be to approach the author and have him/her develop the software officially for the company.

Comfy and Compressor....Relax this has nothing to do with intellectual property and is just another example of the office made to look less than efficient.
Do you seriously expect this guy to work in his own time and produce goods without any financial compensation?...if you do then you probably work in the office and cannot fathom why he is asking for anything in return...This chap is not a charity.
I know crew who after reading through the 'study notes' passed EP's the next day with ease.If there was any problem with the accuracy of information or if it was sold to another airline then I'm with you but that is not the case...as far as I know.
This is yet another example of a control freak employed by the company In other words this is more about ego than anything else.
Crew still do their annual EP proficiency & training days as required by CASA and only use these notes as an aid.....storm in a tea cup stuff as usual.
I would have thought that the company would be pleased with crew passing their exams to CASA's required standards but someone can't stand the thought of innovation and pro active thinking...

people pass the exams with his study guides as they make sense of a ridiculous bureaucratic manual.
Good on him.
His information is accurate and has been of great assistance to many people.
You would think that with all the resources that QF have at their disposal they would be able to come up with some study manual.......but no! all they can think of is "hot chocolate"

I am impressed someone would take the time to create a document to help their fellow crew members.
This does not remove the fact that the reproduction or printing of any information contained in the EP's manual is against company policy, as it is controlled and company sensitive information.
You are hired, you receieve the manual. You resign, you hand back the manual. In the mean time you do not reveal its contents to anyone.
I'm sorry, but I fully understand why Qantas would want the document stopped.

Over enthusiastic (mis)management... perhaps once again justifying their existence?
This is precisely the kind of unnecessary restriction of creativity and innovation that turns a vibrant, progressive organisation into a stale, fear loaded, manipulative, unhappy environment I am hearing QF has become.
just my 2c from a distance
