RAN historic flight dumped?

I have heard a rumour that the RAN histroric flight, based in Nowra is to be dispanded by the Navy and the aircraft 'disposed of'.
Does anyone know anymore about this? Apparently the FAA Museum can't have the aircraft as they are funded by the RAN and have been told they have sufficient examples of each type.
The Tracker is in the middle of, or has completed a major overhaul and is apparently airworthy again. There are also two DC3s, a UH-1 Iroquois and other aircraft that were being restored to fly.
Does anyone know what is planned for these a/c?

I hope not more of this:

Could we not ask that nice Mr Rudd to put a few coins towards the Navy to preserve these 'Pensioner' Aircraft?

He seems to be in an expansive mood to spend our cash of late so it might be a good time tohit him for it.

Trojan, that's a photo when they were pristine, with all due respect I think you mean "I hope not more of this".

Ouch! Is that one of the aircraft that was flown out of NW in the mid nineties? Are they just stored? Indoors? Its a shame to see.

From memory there are 12? Trackers across 2 hangars at West Sale which is where this photo was taken by Brian A.

Is there any truth to the supposed fact that there were only a couple of working engines and they were all flown out with the same engine?

Is it also true that they were purchased privately to be sold to the Singapore Navy or Airforce or something similar but the deal fell through?

There's probably 4 or more hidden away somewhere in this pic.

Trojan 1981,

Not sure what is happening funding wise but theTracker was on the flight line this week conducting engine runs. Sounded great.
Rumours suggested that it was going to be flying at the up coming air show 26th Oct but its been 12 yrs since the engines were last run up.

The UH1H was also flying yesterday and also in the program for 26th.

The above link worked fine. The site has heaps of info about the airshow.

If it still doesnt work try the 'Fleet Air Arm Museum' in google.

UH1B up in Oakey this weekend, making it's way south back to Nowra on Monday. Gather it's coming through Tamworth for fuel, should be able to hear it...
Be a shame to lose that wonderful 'Thump' as the Huey 'stealthily' creeps up on you.

I have heard that there have been lots of cancellations for the airshow. No more Sea Fury by the look of things
I have also been told the historic flight is gone, by a person quite close to the operation.

Since the Iroquois is the only aircraft from the Historic Flight to have flown in recent times (to my knowledge), what is the value of the Flight? Probably better to either sell/get rid of the few aircraft left and save some dollars. The money would be better used to increase retention/recruiting.

Apologies to the FAAA, but your efforts would be better directed to the Museum. Better still get a Cafe operator back!!!

They are now officially gone. The RAN will not allow warbirds to operate from Nowra. I have heard that this might soon be Defence establishment wide policy.
I don't know what is happening with the aircraft but have heard they may go to HARS.
Does anyone know anymore?

What is the RAN thinking? Is this just a money problem or is some idiot bureaucrat in Canberra adding another layer of rules to jusitify their job?

I reckon Wessex has been mucking around with Photoshop. The glaring error in the photo is the wake coming from behind the carrier. Everybody knows they had to go astern so the Trackers could catch up

Fratemate, there was so much concrete in the bilges holding it together and keeping the water out there was no chance it could get up a big enough head of steam to outrun a Tracker.
