Well as for the comments about pilots taking drugs.
here here

But unfortunatly the whole story is suspect because

CASA HAS NOT COMMENCED TESTING

and will not do so for another month or two yet, and that is a FACT.

If the testing did occur, it may have been at the request of the employer and done under contract by them. There are several companies out there who do this sort of testing on request, just like the AFL.

There has of course been testing of aerodrome staff, pilots and engineers going on in northern WA for some time by a Kimberly shire, and I understand that in QLD a copper can test pilots as it's in thier local laws.

Readers are advised that UNSW Aviation is not an organisation that condones illegal drug and alcohol use. Penalties include immediate dismissal. UNSW Aviation has not been the recent target of CASA random testing, and all present staff and students are in good standing.

seabreeze's comment reminds me of the current financial crisis.. everyone coming out with statements to reaffirm that it's not their organisation that's infested with drug-addicted cowboy instructors

CASA have visited various organisations to remind them that testing will start not repeat not to test. This may be the origin of these somewhat unpleasant rumours.
