Jeppesen 1" Leather Folders

Hey does anyone know where the best place to get 2 of the Jeppesen 1" leather folders with 100 or more clear chart protectors?? I've looked around and cant find a place that will sell them for under $250. Surely not for a couple of folders...
Alternatively if anyone has any used that they no longer need PM me.

Thanks in advance.

You can get folders and plastic pockets that are the same size, for a couple of dollars at Officeworks or similar stationery shop.

Thanks Lasiorhinus, that is what I have at the moment but I find it cops a bit of hammering in and out of my flight bag and was looking for a more durable and compact solution.

Cheers

i used to work with a guy that had the plastic sleeves, and they were all just connected by some round, plastic, click together shower curtain rings. They sat on top of everything else in his nav bag.

Will you get 100 charts+holders into a 1" folder? Surely honest Ron down YMMB way can help out
Standard A5 holders work just as well in a standard folder=much cheaper

The Jepp folders are excellent value. I have had my set of two 2" and one 1" for 10 years and there still going strong. I reckon they'll last my career out. I have the Duraflow as I think they are better than the Leather for durability. As for the Jepp clear sheet protectors, I use them and they are fine. They do however have holes drilled to match the plates so you do have to open the rings to remove the chart you want. It hasn't bothered me though.

Contact Jepp Australia.

You can even print the Jeppesen logo off the internet and glue it to the front cover

The only problem I have found with the (later issued) Jepp issued plastic sleeves is that they tend to either react to the heat or the direct light in the cockpit by crinkling at both ends of the protective sleeve. The earlier ones (also issued by Jeppesen) were of a higher quality and didn't suffer in the heat the way their lower quality units do nowadays.

When bringing this to the attention of Jepp Aust there wasn't much interest in helping to find a solution, sounds like it is a known issue.

The binders themselves though are still rather top knotch.

Jepps are, strangely enough, a US size. 8.5 by 5.5 inch or half letter. You might try Legalstore.com or do your own search for "half page sheet protector". You will have to order from the US and pay the associated currency conversion and post but you won't pay anywhere near Jepps price. If you do go down this road, post so that everyone who is annoyed by the
2mm sticking out the top of their A5 pockets can see the alternative.

Or use C5 size plastic pockets... Half-letter will fit inside those without the 6mm overhang.

Ebay is usually a good source of second hand binders.

Pretzal,

I have 2 x 1" and 1 x 2" Jeppesen binders in "Duraflo" which I would part with for any reasonable offer. They are in VG Condition and have the Document TABS as well.
