Brian Bromley. Spent a fair bit of time at Bensbach...before the locals ran him off and wrecked the joint. Did a few hours in his C185 too.
I don't know that he had a flying daughter....I thought he had a son with a pilots licence in Australia...are you confused with the Talair Engineer who's daughter flew for Biscuit ears...Sam Wrigglesworth?

I heard that Brian also had a bit of trouble with either a big spear or a shotgun... had to rush him to Balimo Hospital early one morning... think... or was that the son??!!
Bob Bates (P2-BOB - a Baron when I knew him) of Trans Niugini Tours then owned it... maybe still does.

Brian Brumley had 3 daughters (Vicky, Jill and Jane) but don't remember any of them having pilots licences. I knew them in Hagen in the 70's when Brian worked for Elcom, pre Bensbach days. And yes, Jill was married to John McArthur - I seem to remember him as a fridge mechanic in Hagen in the 70's b4 he got his pilots licence.
...so is the wildlife lodge still operating ??
That's Vicky on the right..... who knows the others ??

THANKS GUYS Looks as though it was Brian Brumley who we were thinking of.
Vicki they say now lives and works in Brisbane.
We all might live in a big country but when it comes to OZ its a
small world in aviation.

Anyone know what Sam Wrigglesworth ended up doing...still flying?
She and I got accepted into Talair same week but Della Buchanan vetoed her employment, apparently.

There were a few hired, but mostly when Junior wasn't watching and Della was out of town. Pussy Galore comes to mind in the early 80's, Seth Efrican maybe, husband was also a pilot and/or engineer?
What happened to Sam's father, Dave? Is he still in PNG - last I heard I think he was with Pacific Helicopters?
I lived next to the Wriggles in the Stone Houses, 1970s.

Bensbach & Brian Brumley
For all those interested Brian Brumley was my grandfather and he passed away a few years ago. Yes he did have a plane a 185, but a gentleman placed it onto the ground a bit hard, the call sign was MAB from memory, hard to recall as I was only a child.
Vicki is my mother, and yes, she is alive and well in Australia. Not interested in going back to PNG at all though. And she did get her pilots licence!

Vector1 your grand dad was a real character. I used to hop in my 185 a couple of times a month, on my days off, and fly a load of fresh meat, bread etc from Moresby to Bensbach before he bought his own 185.
His (ex Missionary Aviation Fellowship) 185's callsign was MFU. I flew it for him a few times before another pilot crashed it. He didn't land hard but landed long/fast and was not able to stop before going off the end of the airstrip and flipped upside down. I cannot remember which strip now but out in the Western Province.
Here is a picture of MFU taken at another Western Province strip called Arufi when rescuing another Cessna that came to grief in bad weather on a slippery strip.
Sad to hear of his passing.

Female TAL pilots
Tinpis, in my time there was
- Cathy Burrow
- Juliette Chubb
- Jan Goodhew (briefly)
Interestingly, all had husbands who also flew for Talair, so I guess they came as a "package" deal. Probably more too, but the memory grows dim.
Juliette Chubb was the pilot I was thinking of. Her husband at that time was an engineer and pilot.
I think Cathy Burrows moved on to Douglas? Last heard Keith and Cathy retired to Cairns.
