A First?

Was the Pope's return to Rome yesterday a first for aviation? Would it have been the first commercial or charter operation from mainland Australia non-stop to Western Europe?

First QF 747-400 went LHR to SYD back in the 80's. Not sure if that counts in the commercial/charter category.
