Unhappy TFU rego given to another a/c in YBCS

I was disgusted to learn recently that a local operator in YBCS had requested and CASA deemed it appropriate for them to register their C404 as TFU.

I do understand that the registration of an a/c involved in a fatal accident will eventually be available for use, and during my enquiries into this have been told by CASA it is made available as soon as the investigation is complete.

But to issue it just after 3 years from the LHR accident and to an a/c flying out of the same airport that TFU was based at is reprehensible. Those of us that work in the industry and lose family/friends in a/c accidents should not have to endure it thrust into our faces like this.

I believe CASA should put an exclusion period on the re-issue of registrations after fatal accidents. As of today's date, there are 2648 available registrations on CASA's website, so there is no shortage to justify the release of this rego.

You need to come up with an amusing tag to use when the aircraft calls on freq, like the endearing "SCAB" still infrequently heard from bitter '89ers. "Vampire", "Zombie" or suchlike.

Send a letter to the company.

I note VH-UMF is available again, used to be painted on the side of the 'Southern Cloud', wot should be the statute of limitations on that one?

Mate, I know from experience how distressing it can be to see the registration of an aircraft involved in fatalities re-used, but at some point it becomes inevitable, so we just have to get over it. Some of these registrations are like an operators 'intellectual property' in some ways I guess, so they are keen to see the registration reused on another of their airframes. Personally I think of it as being a mite insensitive, perhaps even callous, but apparently a fact of life it is.

ZK-VAC (DHC-8) is now on the NZ register again with the same operator that sold ZK-VAC (C402C) to another operator that lost the aircraft in Foveaux Strait in 1998.

The current ZK VAC is no Beech 1900D IMHO. It looks like a Dash 8 to me.

Maybe it is the fact that the company that just registered the 404 uses vh-tf call signs on its pistons, and they have nothing to do with the original aircraft or companies. Do a quick casa search of the rego and you will notice the name of the company and why tf is used
