How long have you/do you wait for your Medical
Hi all,
just wondering how long is the norm for Medicals to arrive after paying your Money. I've been waiting for 3 weeks now for them to print and post my very important bit of paper.
Although, I note that it took them only one day to take my money for the processing of it. Is it just me or is that a rediculous length of time to complete a really simple task.
Imagine if you bought a plane ticket and ."..sir we can't get you on a flight for a few weeks because it will take us that long to process and print your ticket for the journey".
I called them an hour ago and they are now sending it out next week. Judging from the reaction I got, I don't believe that they had it ready to send until I promted them for it.
Rant over to you guys
Bort.

I did my medical in the morning and had my piece of paper that same afternoon. Although if you,re waiting for blood results could take awhile but shouldn,t be as long as you mention.

Medical 17 April.
Print date 26 May.
So that was about 6 weeks.
2 phone calls. The first told me that they were waiting on the cardiologist to have a look at the ECG, then waiting for it to come back from the cardiologist a week later. Bloods were done by the first phone call.
I guess it depends on what tests you had done and when the specialists get around to having a look at it.
Didn't your DAME stamp your old medical certificate with 2 months validity???
Hang in there.

DAME only stamped for one month this year. I wasn't aware that he could do it for longer.
I didn't have any bloods or extras to do this time around. Seems that others have waited for quite a long time. Still think the system for getting these back out is way too slow. If CASA have moved to a cost recovery (and profit making) finacial model for providing these services, then there should be a basic standard of customer service that they strive for. I believe that two weeks at the most is all you should wait. ...and that is including Aust Post time of the usual two days.
Keep the stories coming, it is interesting to see how long people have been made to wait.

5 weeks earlier this year for me.
Turns out the DAME hadn't received the ECG back from the lab so had left it sitting in a draw in the office until I rang asking why CASA hadn't received it yet.
All sorted out in a few days following that.

Seems like alot of you guys have to do med WELL in advance of expiry date to avoid being grounded. I always thought there was a restriction on how long before an expiry you could do it.

Took 7 weeks , turned up about 2 days before expiring. Typical CASA rubbish - rang them, and said where is my medical. They said it was finished only 2 days ago, its in the post. For $25 we can send you another one if you like.
Surely if you pay $75 service is meant to improve, not get worse.

My record is eleven months.
Turns out, the DAME was supposed to take a blood sample for the initial issue, but forgot, or didnt bother, or something. (Though, they didnt forget to charge me for it!).
I wasn't flying for most of that time, so it wasn't high on my priority list, especially since the DAME had given me a temporary certificate valid for an entire year
CASA charged my credit card within about two days of the paperwork being sent to them, but they never tried to let me know it was incomplete. Only eleven months later, when I went for the renewal, did I discover that I only had the temporary. A few phone calls then, and I found out what was going on, and was able to sort it out.

Well I feel like a right jack bastard.
Did my medical two weeks ago and certificate arrived on Monday. Only needed the DAME stamp for two days after the original date expired.
Sorry to all those guys I have inadvertently queue-jumped - I swear I didn't do a thing to get special treatment! Maybe it was "just my time"! You certainly couldn't suggest that there's rhyme or reason to the way CASA get through their admin.

Sort of on the same subject- CIR renewal has taken 5 weeks to come through so far. Money got taken straight away and yesterday I even got a receipt for it which is almost a first for CASA. Why not save postage and send them both together? Try sorting those logistics out. 2 things at the one time?? No no, that won't do...
