34R sorry bit of a dud comment on my part. Just pointing out that not everyone is rushing for the first airline job available. I'm fortunate that I feel no need to rush. I'll shut up now and await comments in the future from people who know something useful.
Not at all mate, not having to rush into a decision is a pretty good position to be in, as far as waiting is concerned.
I sincerely hope your wait wont be too long, whichever path unfolds for you.

this is the website you need to monitor - not pprune
Qantas careers - Update from Qantas Pilot Recruitment
Qantas careers - Update from Qantas Pilot Recruitment
...and who would want to work for an airline that sprays apostrophes about willy-nilly like that?
Disgraceful.
Disgraceful.

Qantas are always the first to stop recruiting and the last to start, don't worry they will be recruiting again!
Why would you want to join Qantas as a pilot? Would the long term risks of being employed by a legacy carrier, in a volatile industry with diverse factors such as energy costs, technology and low cost carriers, not be a big picture career deterrent?
Is a command at all possible within a professional lifetime?
Just wondering....

20 years to command is not that bad if you start at age 23-28 , you spend the majority of that time as an f/o earning more than a jetstar captain , then you get a huge payrise to earn more than almost any other pilot on the planet.
Financially the QF Pilot will always be the richest guy in the cemetary, and he will not reach the cemetary till after his equivalent aged overworked Jetstar buddy.

Let's join Jet* and work for sweet F#$% all. Now there's a good idea.

You must be Nuts...
I don't know what rank you hold in QF, but chances are that if you've joined within the last 4-8 years then your JQ counterpart is earning a lot more than you are. Yes, he or she has more responsibility, career growth and job satisfaction - there's a good idea...

Probably in the short term you'll make more at Jestar, because by the time you go from S/O to F/O at QF you'd have gone from F/O to CAPT at J*. Longterm however, always be better off at Qantas. It's a matter of what suits you or whom you can get into, not all pick and choose for some.
