CASA web site survey
CASA is reviewing and then improving our web site. As a first step we're asking everyone to take part in a quick and simple on-line survey about the CASA web site.
I'd like to ask pruners to give us your views on the CASA web site via the survey. And there are iPod nanos to be won as well!
Just follow this link and tell us what you think of the CASA web site.
Many thanks for your help. Peter Gibson, CASA.

Did mine last week!
.......so where is my ipod? The one in the Jab is over 3 years old, must be about to fall over soon so a new one would be nice!
At least this one was not as silly as the drugs and alcohol one. I hope you or someone looked at the way those questions were asked......unless you had a drug problem you could not complete the survey. If you are not sure what I mean research this site for the thread. It may help in future.
Cheers

IPOD Nano
Like Borat said "Everyone know if for girls"
PG, tell your tight a*se bosses they could have at least coughed for a 30Gb unit. At least then we would feel like you're giving something back after hosing us over for medical renewals.

Hear hear lowdown!
I reckon the CASA website is pretty good at the moment. Easy to use, easy to find stuff. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! It is certainly the best regulator's website around the world that I have had to use.
No doubt it needs to be rebranded to fit in with a new approach or marketing to cover up some bad press or perception. While you're at it, how about you change CASA's name as well? How about putting the word "safety" in it, the public will like that and it will sound better...?
As for the CASA regs please spend some time fixing them ..... what a mess.

I'm with Compressor Stall, the CASA website is relatively user friendly, lots of good info available, please do not make huge changes, its taken quite some time to learn where everything is.
Like most Government Departments, change for change sake. Please do not do it to our website.
Useable legilsation would be great, CAR 206, ICUS, the list is long and distinguished, clean that bun fight up.
Spankings, where do I sign up ?.

That's nice. If it's a CASA Ipod, watch out! It comes preset to function spasmodically between 9 and 5 with lunchtimes, weekends, employee birthdays, December and public holidays off. It then only works after you select "yes" to having read and accepted the terms of the disclaimer. There is NO manual On/Off control. Operating instructions are impossible to follow and confusing updates to the instructions arrive monthly. The operating system has been updated many times with add-ons, but the original software was never written for modern digital music and audio applications. The music comes pre-loaded and is straight off the hit parade from CASA's/CAA's/DCA's heyday in the 1960's.
Music choice is pre-determined by CASA committee with industry consultation. If you want something different (ie, modern, up-to-date music), you first have to organise a selection committee and you can't make any changes without three letters of intent to the manufacturer and CASA, an exhaustive safety case and two bank cheques for $250 (in case the first one gets lost) to ensure CASA certification. Regardless, new music can only be supplied by CASA (it's in the fine print) and you first need a different safety case and committee recommendation to petition CASA to upgrade its available selection and certify the transfer process by a Licensed Aircraft Music Engineer.
If all that sounds like a hassle, don't worry...you will be advised to purchase an upgrade in six months that will have a different name, an 'improved' skin, a new set of instructions and operating procedures. The operating system will remain the same and any non-preinstalled music you loaded in the past will be automatically erased to prevent conflict with the new add-ons.

But most important... BE CAREFUL
That thing will cost you $130.00 an hour to run. And it might decide to turn itself on, then send you the bill too, whether you were listening to it or not!
Also it will produce no "music", just unintelligent static.
When you return it under warranty, you will be told "It's working perfectly, just as intended. What's the problem?"
This sh**s me up the wall and is typical CASA crap.
The industry has MAJOR problems, but we need a frikkin' new website?!
Get a frikkin' grip you peanuts.

lodown, you forgot the fact that when you get new music and applications off iCASAtunes, it takes between a month and three months to download, no matter your connection speed

It also will close down inexplicabley from about 15 Dec until 1st week in Jan. You will get a message that music should only be played during this period in urgent situations. Further, you will then receive numerous messages on your icasapod screen telling you what a great device it is and how it kept you entertained during that difficult period of far reduced resource availability.
