  • Where is "there"?
  • How long did you stay?
  • How persistent were you?

Plenty of movement still, it's more movement in the twin ranks but that also means that this results in the guys and gals flying the singles for those operators get a crack at a twin resulting in jobs for new single drivers.

Now that does mean that one would have to be in a location that has more operators that have twins.

Right place, right time, right attitude still applies though, there may be movement but it is still not at a level where just anyone with a licence will get a job.

Can't believe that people are still getting exited about twin time! I would be looking more at Caravan time! Gone are the days of having a zillion hours in a clapped out Baron or 310 as a prerequisite to getting into an airline.

I don't think so, Duck Pilot. From what I have heard (and this is a rumour network) the shineys still prefer twin time over turbine time.

A bloke I know had 500 hours single pilot, mainly night, some IFR, on PC12, 200 hours on twins, and took a desk job hoping for Conquest time to get more twin time. Now at Skippers (or similar).

I agree with Ipahlot - there has been some small movement in the ranks. Airlines getting Fatigue & Management Systems in place (I know some have had them for a while), employing second officers due to the rumoured requirement to have 2 flying crew in the cockpit at all times...

I could be wrong - it has been known to happen....
