Just a thought..... have you considered life as a LAME and airframe specialist? Painting perhaps?
Otherwise Forkair might be grounded until you are ready to retire

G'day all,
I'd ahve to agree with skimmer - Alligator was/is great - max hours, great bunch of blokes and pay and conditions were good.
I think at Geraldton you'd be hard pushed to get into Shines with a bare bones CPL unless you had an instructor rating and IR, Batavia and Geralton air charter would give you a start though. Good flying too out to the abrohlos - gets your short field skills up!!

Hardys? Well back in the day when supply outstripped demand they would arrogantly ask you to move on and treat you like a pest.
They might be good now though.
There is a lot to be said to those people in the industry that treated people with respect back when pilots were a dime a dozen. Thats why i thought i should post them.
It was nice for someone to take the time to give you some hope when there was little hope getting around.

Thanks Mr. Hat. I'd heard they were one of the better mobs in Darwin, just wondering what others knew. Any operator that won't require me to move back to the middle of friggin nowhere appeals to me right now! I reckon my time in dry zones is done!

East Coast, was not really a 1st job sort of spot. But having said that i hardly know all the operators there. I'm sure there would be some outstanding ones - the hard bit is finding them.

From a different point of view another good job was Stanbroke. Nicknamed "staybroke" it wasn't the best conditions or lifestyle if you know what i mean, but by gee you'd learn how to fly and get plenty of hours and life lessons.

I called KFS, spoke with Mr DP. He had some massive hour requirements. A few years ago though, and i wouldn't be surprised if they had dropped a bit. Everyone else's have!

KFS' hour requirements are driven by their primary customer (RioTinto) for whom they probably do the bulk of their flying. But if you can get a start there, I couldn't think of a better outfit in the NW to be with.

Unfortunately Stanbroke sold nearly all the fixed wing fleet after the takeover a few years ago, i believe they only kept one or two.
Hardy's used to want 1000+ hours, but that's probably dropped now. Good progression onto the twins and metro's, i think the pay is still fulltime and above award too.

For the freshly minted cpl who has initial twin, nvfr, but no CIR, whom might they pursue that could give them a start and could possibly end up leading to in house type training for the CIR aswell?

No, sorry I do not know how long he was/is flying at KFS. I have not seen him since the good ol days at YPJT in 02/03. Would love to catch up with the old boy as not had a beer with him for a long while now.
