Places to fly in NSW

Hello,

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where you could fly for a 3 or 4 day trip in NSW. Two or three times a year, I manage to kidnap some mates and haul them off to places such as white cliffs, Mildura, Leigh creek etc but I'd like to try and find some more "off the beaten track" places, ie stations, farm strips etc. We usually hit Lake Mungo as an example (closed for renos at the moment), and yes I could trawl the country airstrips guide, but thought I'd ask you blokes if you've flown into anywhere that you would recommend to others for a visit.
All and any suggestions gratefully recieved.

'Dalhousie Springs' far North East corner of SA, probably best in winter though!

If you don't mind venturing across the border, Milawa in NE Victoria is a great spot. Home of the Brown Brothers Winery. You can walk off the strip and into the cellar door. Details available via the website.

The Hacienda ALA in Nambucca Heads is nice. Little grass strip and right on the river, some great resturants and beaches near by. Only about 10-15 mins south of YSCH.

.........................how about something different that's still quite out of the way & this time of year it's terrific. FLI Flinders Island off the NE tip of Tassie. Remote, restful & a very friendly place. Obviously it means flying over water but via the islands such as Deal. Hogan etc the risks are slim that you would be lost forever:-). I know you where seeking places in NSW but there isn't a 'fence' around that part of the country you know so venture outside yr backyard (assuming it's NSW) for a change:-0) Sth of the border, Mexico, where the natives are friendlier:-)

Mitchelton is a similar situation I believe, if you are that way inclined!

Good Stuff

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions, I'm checking them all out as we speak (type). The reason I limited myself to NSW was to keep the costs resonable for me and the pax as I'm out of Syd. That said, given some of the locations suggested, the NSW limitation is no longer.

Places To Fly To In NSW

Try these:
Tibooburra and stay at The Granites Motel
Hungerford (QLD Border) and stay at the Royal Hotel
Noccundra Hotel (QLD) and stay at the pub
Eulo (QLD) and stay at the Eulo Queen Hotel
Cameron Corner and stay at the Corner Store (check your insurance first as it can be a challenging strip if 4WD are on the road on late final)
The list is endless in NSW and elsewhere. I've been doing what you do for lots of years and I have never been disappointed with anywhere I stay. Just don't take a city attitude with you.

Also have a look at http://www.aeroclub.com.au and http://www.piper.org.au for various events.

There are several clubs/schools ex YSBK that also do longer trips (usually annually and of 2 or 3 weeks duration). eg. http://www.schofields-flying-club.com.au

How about flying to Corowa and spending a bunch of time at the Rutherglen wineries and restaurants, off to Milawa for more of the same, a short drive up the hill to Beechworth and then home via YMAY for a refuelling stop.

If time permits then you could add Bright, Mt. Hotham and an aerial tour of the mountains, I have done that trip and can assure you that the scenery is awesome, well worth the effort.

Fantastic.

There seems to be a heap of great places to visit!! Thanks again to all for posting your ideas and suggestions, looks like I got my entire next year planned already. To be fair I'm stunned by how little I knew of the majority of these places when frankly I thought I'd seen most if it. (wrong!!).

Kickatinalong - I'll pm you for the ALA details at Cameroo. Easter is when we are planning the next one so that might just fit the bill.

CISCODISCO - thanks for the kind offer . I flew out there in the 210 once from YAYE via a place called Warburton range, there is an eye opening place. Even took a tour of Langtrees in Kalgoorlie

thanks again to everyone.

ALA details at Comeroo
location is on their website - here
I have flown in there twice. The strip is 350 ft elevation, 36/18, 1000m, hard clay and would not be suitable after rain.
