Thanks for the link albizia! i'm marginal colour blind, and althouhg hold a medical, i'm wondering if they recheck on each renewal for the class 3 atc medical?

The doc pulls out a book with green and blue dots that make the shape of letters and numbers each time I sit mine(2 yearly). I am guessing this is colour testing. I recall some hoohaa about a lantern test or something a couple of years ago. I can't recall specifics but you can be kind of colour blind and still pass it. I don't know if they canned it or not. That could have been the hoohaa.

I think the lantern test is not adequate (as Plazbot has suggested).
You need to pass the Ishihara (coloured bubbles concealing the number) in order to qualify for a Class 3.
It would be best to check with Airservices though...
