Does anyone know if air services are recruiting at the moment, and how tough is the selection?

Will be recruiting for the foreseeable future, selection is apparently tough, last time about 6000 applicants for the exercise.

The doc pulls out a book with green and blue dots that make the shape of letters and numbers each time I sit mine(2 yearly). I am guessing this is colour testing. I recall some hoohaa about a lantern test or something a couple of years ago. I can't recall specifics but you can be kind of colour blind and still pass it. I don't know if they canned it or not. That could have been the hoohaa.

I think the lantern test is not adequate (as Plazbot has suggested).
You need to pass the Ishihara (coloured bubbles concealing the number) in order to qualify for a Class 3.

It would be best to check with Airservices though...
