"... like flying a 1425 hp Chipmunk",
Unlike some, I have had the pleasure of flying both the un-swept DH-C1 and the T28D and they have very similar flying characteristics in the air.

The mind boggles indeed if you are a nitpicker, however I would challenge those same critics to do a circuit or two, preferrably in a single seat model.

More photo's needed

The old aero engines can be fascinating--this one had no information attached, still awaiting it's place in the display: appears to be an OHC V8, liquid cooled?
If i'm not mistaken, that is a 170HP Renault HSI V8.

These were circa 1917, so obviously WW1. Perhaps a Farman F45?

Ditto. The T-28 was a pussy cat. In USN service students came to the 28 with about 20 hours in a T-34, of which only about 3 hours were solo. Solo on the 28 then came with about 27 hours grand total time.

Thanks for that, fills in a gap.
This, a Napier Lion W-12

Something vaguely disturbing about a nurse behind a machine gun --I hope she was only getting a lift

Emu Gully

I feel a bit annoyed that I have to share this.. but they put on a fantastic show.

Air and Land Spectacular

All replicas in varying sizes.

The ground show was also very impressive.

The Emu Gully Air & Land Spectacular is Australia’s largest re-enactment of Anzac history. Australia’s biggest collection of operating military vehicles is not only on display, but comes to life to re-enact Gallipoli, scenes from World War II and other pivotal battles in our Nation’s history. The action on the ground is matched with excitement in the skies, as military aircraft drop bombs and dog-fight in battles overhead. Troops and mounted infantry provide a very real and up-close portrayal of our troops on the ground, as they navigate the trenches and dodge bombs (provided by stunning pyrotechnics and special effects).

The Andrew Sisters Tribute Band provides another highlight, as do the military bands. There are rides for the kids, an ‘animals that went to war nursery’ and much more, that together provide an educational, inspirational and highly entertaining event.

With its Airfield and large Outdoor Education Centre, Emu Gully is an ideal venue. Emu Gully is located at Helidon Spa, near Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia.

Thanks Kris
Great photos. Didn't know about it, it would have been good to see.
My old Dad told me that he used to take his horse along to the weekend LightHorse camps and do Tentpegging, when he was a young man in the early '20's, when the family was at Cambooya.

Looking at the halos on the ridge line I'd say you used Photomatix.

I think I can see some water down the other end, so my guess is Hobart.

Could be 32L at Launie. Looks like the railway in the foreground, taxiway on the left. Certainly wet enough there last Friday, but I'm guessing.

It would be the ILS at Launy.....in an Aerostar

Soon you will have a different view, more like this....

Problem was this weather was associated with the winds shown here

How the ball and bug were somewhere near their targets surprises me, this must have been a lucky shot, was rough and slow......
