It never got worse than SCT or FEW on Sunday. Most of the day was just blue sky - NZHN looked like it was BKN/OVC but it almost always breaks up as it comes over the hills.

You never know who's watching........

Geez Cracker, you really challenge my memory banks!

I took a Baron into Milungera once only in 1990. I only remember that it was a nice big strip. That day I shared it with a Conquest.

Although I don't remember Milungera, I do remember the trip. Arriving in the dark back at Charlie's Trousers to drop off a pax, I couldn't get the PAL lights to turn on. Fortunately a friendly Qantas flight passing overhead did the job for me. Townsville-Charlie's Trousers-Milungra-Charlie's Trousers-Townsville was right on the limit for a B55. I recall having exactly 45 min left in the tanks when I filled it up.

I have never even flown over Milungera before or since. It just seems to be off my usual tracks.

I've never heard of having a lime in a Halo....

From all that useless ATPL met study, from memory a Corona is astronomic, a Halo meteorological.

Am I right? Hm? Ha? Hm? Am I? Am i?

HALO

3. (Earth Sciences / Physical Geography) a circle of light around the sun or moon, caused by the refraction of light by particles of ice
4. (Astronomy) Astronomy a spherical cloud of stars surrounding the Galaxy and other spiral galaxies

CORONA

a. A faintly colored luminous ring appearing to surround a celestial body visible through a haze or thin cloud, especially such a ring around the moon or sun, caused by diffraction of light from suspended matter in the intervening medium. Also called aureole.

So you're right and wrong I guess...

So what was that in the photo.. that we all see from time to time..neither? Just a full circle rainbow.. white light broken down with the red spectrum visible on the outside of the curve, and the violet on the inside towards the shadow?

HALO: A military term referring to covert insertion of paratroops. High Altitude Low Opening.

CORONA: A rather good Mexican beer.
