Grandpa Aerotart
I wonder if whomever was flying it closed the cowl flaps after shutdown or just forgot about them altogether after closing them at TOPC
Roma looks like the spot...my old girl has been far and wide of late...as far south as Nimbin and as far west as The Rock.
She's supposed to be in the hangar at Flinders now being stripped and gutted for new paint and interior.
Think I'll make a quick phone call
Edit. Dr
I hope you wiped it off after

Chuckles, I have spent the last 2 hours trying to reply to this post, and have finally come to the conclusion that someone is messing with me. When I try to log in with the FTDK ID, I keep getting a message that the server is too busy, but apparently it is not too busy for this ID. I guess that will change now I've posted this.

I did wonder if you would notice that. Should have known!

Yes, Roma it is. Pretty crappy weather over much of Qld yesterday. I ended up at Surat cause Meandarra had 2" of rain overnight. Approaches were being missed at Dysart, Clermont and Charleville.

Took me an hour or so to "get" this. Man I am getting old. I was going to title the post "Guess what I ran into today", but thought that would prompt a bunch of smartarse replies. You can't win!

7 years...I really don't know why she was at Roma as the last I heard she was going in for the new paint job and interior at the end of last week. Not that it matters much.
Lots of improvements since you flew her last...the 'finishing touches'
over the next few mths

sumtingwong,
Dry River it is, one of the afternoon runs with around 4 of us converging from CS and TL if memory serves me correctly.
Come on mate, Yorke was always the highlight of the maximus. What could be better on a huge day than trying to juggle the Mosby ground handling circus?

Eucla
So that's what it looks like during the day!
Landed there a few times between midnight and dawn, never during daylight! A couple of faint kero flares at each end and cat eye reflectors down the side always made you think about your approach on a night blacker than a proctologist's fantasy.

Seasonally Adjusted
One of the daytime hazards include fishermen blindly crossing the 'main' runway on their way to the camp.
Stallie, if you look hard enough into the distance you may even see that frozen place you call home during the summer months.

Hey Stallie how goes it? I like you have only been into Eucla at night, it was for some horror smash (MVA) victim(s).
Slightly easier to approach than Madura Pass and you don't get any 400' fluctuation on the radalt on short final.
Didn't realise there was more than one strip though!!
