I haven't done it (and have no intention of trying), however, I do know someone, who talked to someone, who overheard a bloke talking about someone who had seen a well known ag pilot do it with an Agwagon. My understanding is that the brakes are locked.

I have a vague recollection of a write up in the crash comic many years ago of someone who may have tried to do the similar in a Bonanza (wheels retracted). Apparently the nose wheel doors were damaged by the subsequent impact with the water !!!!!!!

There was a short bit of video footage on TV a few weeks ago in a flashback to the Brisbane Expo of an army Kiowa skiing up the Brisbane river on its skids.

Great photo and video of the Havards (or whatever the particular designation).

Also watched the bush flying videos.....

It reminded me of the only time of my 52 years where I have really truly felt alive!!

Once again I have been reminded of what I left behind far far too early, and even though it was involuntary I, like Chuckles, feel a deep sense of loss.

Re the 'other' Kar Kar strip; There was another strip on Kar Kar and when Geoff Thiel was checking me out into the plantation strip in my final PNG days he got me to fly past the other strip concerned. Now too long ago but seem to remember that the piccy posted by Tinpis is indeed that strip.

Only remember Geoff saying that it was not suitable for other than 206s or BN2s and was rarely used.

YCLQ is correct. Cape Leveque. Had all three 404's up there that day. Hooblah Gooblah was flying the one in shot. Photo taken by McPoof.

J31 is on the ground at Kirkalocka, Not many of you have been there but alot of you would have flown over it on the PH-RUSTY-MOG track.

Last one is at sunset in YABA.

Bushy, it was a B747F-200, badly in need of a wash but too busy working to spare the time. The holes in the fairing were from the tire debris. The operator was OK, I did nine years with them after retiring from a major.

Great! Buy a property next to an airport and then complain. Those scum sucking real estate agents keep telling new homebuyers there that the strip is going to close.

We may never know why FTDK was banned, I asked the question when sunfish was banned, but nobody seemed able to tell me...

BTW: is banning permanent? Or just for an allocated time?

Cheers all.

Captain, I can't fathom you...

FTDK has been very active on this thread, so it seemed relevant to mention it here, besides, he has always seemed very polite and orderly, he was not one that I would suspect to be banned.

Cheers CF.

T Q,

Is it Shark Bay before it was sealed? There's a distinct slope that looks familiar.

If not, it's definately in the general Kalbarri / Shark Bay region from the scrub.

When I started this thread I didnt think it would go this well, quite a novelty to see the numbers going up and looking forward to more photos being put on. Keep on adding, here are a few more of mine. To keep the theme going where abouts is the Cessna parked with the hill in the background?? Have fun. JB
