It seemed to take an eternity before receiving approval for '10 miles left of track'.

St Barts

Noice... With just a little bit less Jean Bilotti, it would've been even better!

No pics to show, but the folk in Charleville are right now working frantically. Earlier this week thinking they had dodged a bullet, only to cop a heap more upstream in the last 24 hours.

Pity these works raising the levee and diverting the gully were not done yet.

Taillie, you might be back out there again

Our thoughts are ith the folk out there including Beach King and 185 skywagon

Yes, it is looking increasingly likely that nature will again install an indoor swimming pool in our Charleville office, only a few weeks after the last flood damage was repaired........... This time I can't get there.

Roma, Surat and St George are all looking at possibly flooding over night. Most roads are cut.

The Mitchell floods are the worst in living memory and the water is still rising. The rain has been constant, non stop for days.

I had 5 sparkys get through to St George via Surat going to Mungindi the scenic route. Can't get in via Goondi or Moree.

I might be taking out food parcels to them next week. Plenty of work to keep them occupied before they get out again

6am edit....it still pouring. Around Mitchell the gauges are still rising

TW....we all promise to behave while you are busy out there and the levels out your way are too. Put your floaties on

I doubt the Roma to St George via Surat highway will be open by morning. Indeed, I doubt it is open now.

Poor old Mitchell, they're just going to be wiped off the map.

The warning for the Maranoa River as at 6am this morning:

MARANOA RIVER: Major flood levels are rising at Currawong, with river levels at 5am Friday measuring 10.75 metres. This is the highest level on record, higher then the 1956 peak of 10.66 metres. Further rises are expected. At Mitchell (manual gauge) major levels continue to rise, with the river at 5am Friday measuring 9.35 metres. Levels of 10 metres are possible today. This level is higher than the 1956 river peak of 9.26 metres. Major flood levels continue to rise downstream at Springfield with levels over 11 metres today.
And to think, this water is only going to end up at St George in a couple of days time....

Flood gates have just been installed on the new bridge @ Charleville - Warrego is not expected to rise above the levee bank.

The Big Bang Theory....in an aircraft engine.

Hi All,

Here's a photo from Some years back of a cylinder failure in a Cessna 210.

Here's a link to the story of the flight. The Big Bang Theory. An Aviation Blog by Owen Zupp.

Cheers,

Or, do ya use a 'real' airplane...like a.......(insert type of load carrying cap.)

Keep up the 'good work'....& Rotsa Ruck....

Very 'interesting' pic there Mr DTE.

Give you a 'thrill' when that 'let go'?

Read your story and have responded there - well done and well written.

Cheers...(Old 210 driver...)

Funny buggers.......no the food parcels will be to keep a gang of Sparkys working hard.

Mind you towns like Wee Waa and Dirranbandi could be in for trouble....You could insert the word LAKE in front of the town name and be rather appropriate if the levee is swamped
