Harder Q: Location?

not glider

because;
engine instruments - but could be a motor glider;
no vario in sight, just a VSI - pretty daming;
and mostly, appears to be open cockpit - .

Some sort of microlight I guess

Yup, it's a Drifter - most fun I've had with me clothes on...if the winds are not >20KT!

Location - there's a dam in the picture, somewhere in S/SE QLD en-route to a fly-in nearby the dam...does that help?

To replicate the view, try Google Earth 28o20'S 151o21'E @ 5000', tilt and look SW.

For those who don't know what a Drifter is, here's a picture from a mate of mine...

J430,

This Australianism initially confused me, too.

Down here, the "dam" is both the structure that retains water behind it AND the body of water that would be called elsewhere the "reservoir."

Instructor: Just head for the dam.
[Crosshair turns aircraft to point at concrete structure.]
Instructor: The dam!
Crosshair: I am!
[Instructor grumbles.]

This, plus the fact that many "lakes" contain no water, can confuse the North American flying VFR here.

Question

bentleg.

#1 - Moruya?

#2 - The Oaks? (a wild guess because of the road on short final - but don't see that little jet that used to be parked there....)

Spot on both cases.

I can see I'll have to put up something harder. Guess this one.....

The colour of the ground and the drums may provide a bit of a clue.
