TVSA renewed hope for GA

I heard via the long grape vine TVSA are still looking for grade 3 junior instructors and paying 10% above the award with a guraenteed chieftain endorsement making them the best paid GA outfit in aus. I have heard they are a really friendly outfit with CFI going out his way to help. Can anyone confirm.

No confirmation from me, but your post has just caused a stampede of 15 year old rustbucket cars with backseats removed for beds for TVSA. The resulting national shortage of bartending and grocery checkout staff will become apparent in the near future.

With the lack of job opportunities for Junior Grade Three's, you would have to wonder why a company needs to add so many benifits to the job description to attract employees... Perhaps if you search some old posts, you would find some disgruntled ex-students and ex-instructors who would have something to say about the owners?!

Thumbs up

I have read some of the stuff that was posted here and as a Student pilot who learns with TVSA (not full time) I must say ive never experienced any of the things that have been posted here, the Instructors are all VERY friendly (especially the senior instructors) and are willing to help out in their spare time. Ive never had any problems with them.

Thumbs up TVSA a ok!

I laughed at the comment "....those crazy f$%#ers..."

I reckon Peter and Wendy would laugh as well. Yeap they can be crazy f%#^ers.

They also gave me and plenty of others a good start. How many other people can say they did max hours in the first week after they finished their instructor rating?

Peter never promised me hours, but I sure got them! (not every week was a max hour week, but I did ok).

Go ahead and work for someone that treats you nice, or go and work for someone that will get you loads of flying hours, pays a wage, pays super and kicks your arse if you stuff up (but will talk to you the next day).

Do not under any circumstance touch TVSA.

The Tealady will do his utmost to reap maximum damage, if the occassion arises.

As if

This post is an absolute w*ank. As for the best paid in Australia that is total B*ull s*hit, with a capital B.

I think this post was a covert post for TVSA seeking some new instructors.

Spades are Spades

Anybody who has flown with TVSA/BMSA knows that Peter and Wendy can be abrupt at times, but the standard of pilots being produced is way above some of the "money in license out" meatgrinders I've seen. I've seen a lot of vindictive posts and am amazed that people are willing to patch up their egos by dragging down the reputations of students who have completed their training at this school. I flew (past tense) for BMSA as an instructor and have no qualms in recommending their training. I had my chain yanked on a few occasions (not always flight related), but if you are willing to listen, rather than throwing a hissy fit and sulking off, there is plenty to be learned.

Tarago Valley School of Aviation (Moorabbin, Vic) and Bacchus Marsh School of Aviation (Bacchus Marsh, Vic). CFI is Peter Dow, who I believe also chk/trains on Bandits and Chiefs for King Island Air.

Does this offer still stand? What's the catch?

And are these the guys who operate out of Point Cook on weekends in their C-150s?

They do run a traineeship program that covers up to a CPL, CIR(M) and FIR with employment following. (Not many schools guarantee the first 100 hours of employment after comleting a FIR). Very busy during school holidays as they run a very good high school program (boarding at Bacchus with tours of all kinds of aviation aspects, eg polair, tulla ops, exec air, rotary ops, QF maintenance to name a few) and 4 Wing RAAF cadets at Point Cook. Never heard of the guaranteed chieftain endorsement, (unlike offers I've seen made by other schools chasing students), but enough work to make casual employment well worth it over these periods. Website is [URL="http://www.tvsa.com.au"].
As stated before, I don't work for them anymore and I refuse to bag companys (it's unfair to their students), but I will give the facts (as far as I know) on good operations. The opening post to this thread is a dig (no malice to the initiator), as you will definitely get your butt kicked for screw-ups, but Peter will still knock back a coldie with you in the evening.

Nobody said anything bad about their instructors.... just the owners

Grrr

I never really had anything to do with TVSA, but this one time...
I had just finished my Instructors rating and was handing out CV's around Moorabbin, pretty much everywhere.
I popped into TVSA and waited a while at the front desk till someone came around to ask me if I need any help. Eventually some guy that looked pretty senior came to see me. I handed him my CV and just put in a few words about myself. He didn't even look at it... He asked me where I did my Instructors Rating and as soon as I replied he gave me back the CV saying simply "no thanks". I tried to be kind and said that he could keep it, it's only one of many copies, and he said it's a waste of time.
Apparently they have some kind of an issue with the place I did my training at..
Fair enough from one point of view, but how much good does that behaviour do to a new guys confidence?
I knew before hand they didn't like my flying school but I thought I had nothing to lose but a copy of my CV. Luckily I was warned about it and was told what to expect before I got shot down!
Anyway, as mentioned above, I have nothing else but that one "painful" experience...I'm pretty sure they don't treat everyone like that!
