(P2 WDL: Page 185 of this thread) Are you sure about the 1975 date? I worked for Gordon Campbell at the Narimo Hotel in 1970, and I thought then that his days of flying were in the past...

Tinpis

Does anyone know how Tinpis is getting on these days I heard he was sick and I'm hoping he's OK.
Has anybody got any more recent news since Allan L's post?

I have been trying to find out about Tinpis but no one seems to know his current condition.

His diagnosis goes back maybe four years. His last visit to PPRuNe was on January 3 2016.

Anyone in Darwin in contact with him??

Tinpis is in the Darwin phone directory. Been trying to call his number but it goes to voice mail.

I spoke to Tinpis May 22.
His health could be better, but he was cheerful, still enjoys a cold one.

ABC's Foreign Correspondent just did a follow up story, 'Family Matters', on Joe Leahy- son of Mick Leahy, directed by the Bob Connolly. He went back to track down Joe 25 years after he last did a story on him; and it is a sorry story.

Here it is; http://iview.abc.net.au/programs/for...t/NC1602H027S0

Connelly was the director of the 'Highlands Trilogy', also now on ABC Iview; 'First Contact', 'Joe Leahy's Neighbours' and the third installment 'Black Harvest'.

All three are here;

First Contact : ABC iview

Joe Leahy's Neighbours : ABC iview

Black Harvest : ABC iview

Little has changed in 40 years. Fascinating story for all you lapuns!!!!

Joe Leahy is the son of Hagen Dan Leahy. Mick's sons are Richard and Phil.

Dick Smith financed Bob Connolley and Robin Andersons movie "First Contact", which was the first in the trilogy.

tail wheel, you omitted Tim who is also a son of Mick. Richard was the pilot, Phil was the vet who has the chicken business in Zenag whilst Tim is/was the.......supposed entrepreneur.

If you Google the BN2 sales brochure there is a Douglas Airways BN2...P2-DWI or DWA...hard to make out. How old is that photo? Old Divine World balus If it's DWA...you couldn't get better promo material that that.

Anyways...2016 claimed a lot of people... I hate to ask this but are Tinpis and NASA OK?

Just been reading back over some of these posts.
Spent a bit of time in TPNG in the late '60s.
Mostly Rabaul and Moresby. Preferred Rabaul, enjoyed my time there,

Different subject. Looking at the PNG register there are very few piston aircraft left operating. NCA pulled out of gulf ports citing supply of avgas and costs. It is reported they have been importing avgas from Poland. Someone point them in the direction of Fiji where fuel is government price controlled (read cheap), shipping costs are less and there are regional free trade agreements. At first glance, avgas is cheaper from Fiji than Poland...just saying...
